Hello Bricklink,

currently I'm browsing the stocks of some of my favourite shops, sorted by
"Date Added".

They usually have lots of pages per date.

But it takes hours and hours to make sure, one has seen all parts of one specific
date, because:
Sort "Date Added" delivers no stable results!

Yes, the date is correct, but within the order is random, because there seems
to be no 2. sort criteria (= unstable).
(For example: if all data (= not only one column) in Excel is sorted by only
one column/criteria, the order of all other columns remains stable.)

If one browses forward, parts appear that have already been listed on pages before
- and other parts never appear, because they get sorted to pages one has already
browsed.

Even if one just refreshes the page, the parts shown are completely different
than before.
Same when returning after skipping to the shopping cart or a single item number.

I love Bricklink, but this is really such a drag...

If a 2. sort criteria could be added (preferably "Item name" (and perhaps
"Colour" as 3.)) to make sort option "Date Added" stable, it
would really, really help a lot (and save lots of time).

Cheers,
Oliver.

I usually find Price, or Quantity, up or down, to be more useful to me. Is there
a specific benefit to sorting by date added?

Cheers ...

Hi ghyde,

of course there is:
If one visits a shop regularly, does one really want to see all the already browsed
parts over and over again - just to find out, that there's nothing interesting,
again...

Just imagine a record or book shop that doesn't have a "new entry"
section:
Do you really want to look at all records/books everytime again in order to find
the new ones?

Cheers,
Oliver.

Much more (and warning), you'll quickly get IP banned until the next day.

Solution: kindly prepare an explanation to the seller, e-mail or message him,
asking for his downloaded Inventory (invxml.txt), then Import this in BrickStore
(free/open-source).

It'll take the seller (and you) maybe 30 seconds for a whole shop.

Of course, some up to many will refuse, but hey, you could try?

Hi 1001bricks,

sorry, but what a strange suggestion:

1. size of the file? (imagine a shop with about 50.000 lots)
2. pictures? (well, I guess BrickStore might even provide them...)
3. update, if parts are sold/new parts are added during browsing (does the seller
send me an updated file every 15/30/60 minutes?)
4. one has to copy the item number of every part he/she wants into the shop's
search field to order parts of the according lot - how long will that take?

This really doesn't look like a practical solution to me.

Cheers,
Oliver.

sorry, but what a strange suggestion:

The most probably it'll fits as an attachment in an e-mail. Like up to a
few MB.

Yep, and in cache.

  3. update, if parts are sold/new parts are added during browsing (does the seller

Of course not.
It could be used to "have a look at this shop".

  4. one has to copy the item number of every part he/she wants into the shop's

A few clicks! Using BrickStore copy selected lots to a new file, modified qty
to 1 maybe, upload this list as a wanted-list, buy it in the shop.

This really doesn't look like a practical solution to me.

Frankly browsing 100 pages of a single shop isn't practical either.

If you wish to "discover" parts, then the catalog or rebrickable, or
some nice websites do this.

Nowadays the most often, people use a wanted-list (or an inventory like in rebrickable)
then buy either in one or many shops.

Anyway, it was just an idea...
