| I received this message about a $5 head in my store, and am wondering what to
do, it appears the buyer has over 100 positive feedback and no negative or neutral
feedback. The dropping it off is no problem, but I just worry about he scames
and am looking for insight. The message is the following:
“ Is there any wear or damage?
If no issues, would you accept my prepaid FedEx label for it. Can be dropped
at any Walgreens if no FedEx. I’ve had no issues using them on here.”

Scammed for $5? I don't see how for something so small. Some people have
access to discounted rates for FedEx (employees, business accounts, etc) so they
might naturally ask to use their perk instead of paying you for postage.

| I very much doubt you would be scammed over $5 but here are 2 tips:
1. Send pics of the head. Many sellers won't send pics for such a low cost
item, up to you.
2. The address on the label has to match the buyer's PayPal address. If not,
the buyer can open an "item not received" case against you and you will
lose automatically.

A prepaid label will have the destination address that the buyer supplies. If
that doesn't match to what PayPal supplies, then you have a problem.

The issue is that one wouldn't be covered by PayPal seller protection if
one sent to a different address

I'm of the same mind - in fact I don't think I've ever even looked
at a PayPal address unless the BL address looked "off". I think it is
best to send to the address used by the buyer when placing the order.

Same here. Out of all the orders we have received only a couple went bad and
we just went ahead and approved the refund for missing packages.
Because our postage software uses PayPal's addresses we use those but we
always do a quick compare to make sure they are the same but not not because
about worrying about scams, we just want to make sue the order is shipped to
where the customer wants it to be shipped to. When the addresses differ we just
contact the buyer and ask which address they want the order shipped to. This
has happened just a handful of times and when we shipped it to a different address
then what is on PayPal it has never caused any problems or chargebacks.

Since your orders on bricklink are paid via PayPal onsite, you don't need
to check anything.
The address that appears on the PayPal transaction is automatically copied from
the address the buyer uses (that you can only see on the order's page) and
so PayPal entirely ignores the primary address on buyer on PayPal.
There is absolutely no way these two addresses can be different, unless if the
buyer pays via PayPal offsite.

It does exist, at least if you follow their rules to the letter. I had a buyer
open a case against me a couple of weeks ago, they also started a NSS. This was
after they had received a package with tracking. I sent the tracking number to
paypal and they sided with me. I also emailed the buyer asking why they had done
a NSS and they claimed they got mixed up and entered the wrong order number.
Whether it was a genuine error on the buyer's side or not, PayPal resolved
the false claim quicker than the buyer.

| Here is what Paypal states about prepaid label:
****************************
Prepaid shipping label scam
The buyer asks you to use a prepaid shipping label provided by them, but the
shipping labels could’ve been purchased with a stolen credit card. Or they may
attempt to send the package to another country, PO Box, or an untraceable location.
Tips to help avoid a prepaid shipping label scam: Don’t accept shipping labels
and only ship to the address on the transaction. This also helps ensure that
you remain covered under the PayPal Seller Protection policy on eligible transactions.
****************************
There is only Paypal seller protection if you ship to the buyer's Paypal
address. Your buyer might be a reseller and sending you a label with his customer's
address. It might be of less concern for a $5 purchase.

I ordered twice from a huge store in Canada:
Canada First bricks
I politely requested them if they are ok I create and buy the shipping label
and gave these reasons:
- I want to spend more with my account of CanadaPost so that I can reach a higher
discount rate (up $2500 per year is dicount level 1, up to $5000 is dicount level
2)
- It will be cheaper because you also have to charge me 13% extra for taxes.
and at the end, I mentioned i do understand if they prefer not to accept this,
and I will still pay for the order.
For similar reasons, I created and sent labels to sellers on Ebay,... and a few
accepted.
For sellers in the USA, I prefer to create my own label because they don't
use a cheap shipping label. So for small orders, it can cost me $15 otherwise
they might want to charge me $30-40.
It is always easy and quick to think: this is scam, that is scam,...
and if you google anything like "the buyer wants... is this a scam?",
you find some links that it is.
Look at the profile of buyer and the way he communicates and use your common
sense.
