| Hi,
This buyer chose to have his order shipped cheaply with no tracking. I offer
several methods to suit my buyer's preferences.
Then proceeded to make a PayPal claim that seller didn't provide tracking
info

This is a normal procedure for buyers. They want cheap shipping, but pay with
Paypal, which requires the seller to provide proof of delivery. That's why
I never ship without proof when paying via PayPal. The only exception is buyers
who have bought from me several times.

that some indiviuals try to scam me like this.
I understand that some people might not have the money, or want to pay 12 EUR
extra for tracking, so I trust them and offer this service

Yes, the PP claim itself is somewhat fraudulent, and therein lies the question
of "honesty" some in this thread seem to be missing. Though not what
I would consider as a "scam"
As a seller, I think it foolish offering such an option to begin with. Nonetheless,
it is considerate as a vendor to offer the cost-savings option to your buyers,
and it is an option or choice the buyer makes, with defined terms of risk.

| I'd have to disagree that the claim is somewhat fraudulent. "Seller
cannot provide tracking". This is true. The buyer did not say why and it's
not a question that Paypal asks.
It's possible that the buyer is trying to scam the seller. It's possible
that the shipment is just delayed and will arrive eventually. It's possible
that it was lost in the mail. Regardless, with the information provided by the
seller, there is nothing definitively wrong or fraudulent with what the buyer
has done.

OK, but you didn't provide tracking. Like if the buyer filed a claim, and
PayPal asked "did you check the tracking number?" then the response would
have to be something like "the seller didn't provide tracking". The
buyer filed a claim because they didn't get the package.

OK, but you didn't provide tracking. Like if the buyer filed a claim, and
PayPal asked "did you check the tracking number?" then the response would

buyer filed a claim because they didn't get the package.

The buyer might be held accountable if PayPal support realized that they had
declined tracking. Intentionally declining offered tracking just to get cheaper
postage is reckless behavior and should be recognized by PayPal for what it actually
is. Sadly the reality is that PayPal would refund the buyer their payment anyway,
since they probably don't bother to fact-check pertinent details. Since we
don't work for PayPal, we may never actually know to what lengths PayPal
goes to in order to substantiate that the buyer actually ordered and paid for
tracking.

| How do you know that the buyer received the package? The buyer has over 500
feedback and 100% positive. If you ship without tracking, the risk is yours.

I do offer responsibility of tracked shipments
It was only around 35-40 days underways, this is not uncommon for sending letters
across continents. I think the buyer will get it later this month.
Anyways, I would appreciated the buyer trying to contact me for a solution, as
I could have investigated this with the post office, as they could actually track
it in their closed systems.

That's right. It is your choice whether to offer untracked shipping on expensive
(and cheap) orders. You hope to get more orders by offering it, but when things
go wrong you are the one that is responsible. Decide what the maximum is you
would be willing to lose to gain those extra orders, and set that as a threshold
where you will only do tracked orders.

| Unfortunately, shipping from Denmark with tracking is extemely expesive. Around
3-4x extra cost. It is not like the US.
The buyer know about it, then proceeds to telling PayPal that I didn't offer
payment, before eveing contacting me about finding a solution.
I would gladly have investigated the matter, or issued or coupon for new items
or similar, as I offer a high level service to my customers

+1 tracked and untracked packages can go missing with or without insurance. All
of them are the sellers responsibility and 1 in several hundred/thousand going
missing isn’t bad at all. A good option may be a simple $ threshold so for example
you offer untracked shipments for orders up to $50 or something so when one dosnt
arrive you are never out more money then you can afford to loose

| Sorry my friend you got this totally wrong.
I have the same business model in my store, allow no tracking option as I also
think this attracts more orders. But I manage it a bit different than you:
First you got to understand that you are responsible to deliver to the buyer,
always- no matter what shipping method you use.
Next also understand that approximately 1/1000 packages get lost. For real, no
scamming buyer, just lost. Those packages you will have to refund, it’s simply
a business cost. That’s why you don’t want to ship valuable orders without tracking.
Easiest is to set most instant checkout to tracked option, I do it by weight
- nothing over 100 grams goes no tracking.
But sometimes you’ll get a light weight order that’s valuable. Well then I just
buy tracked shipping anyway. A small amount on ALL shipping labels should cover
those lost packages and those you’ll need to buy more expensive shipping than
buyer actually paid. With this set up you will be able to handle your business
more professionally!
Also - for the PayPal claim you had: this is just how it works. As soon PayPal
understands that you didn’t bought tracking, then they close the case and you
are out of money. And most probably are the package actually lost.

Shipping at buyer's risk doesn't exist, it ain't legal in most places
and against Paypal's terms.
I shipped without tracking for years, had more sells because of this, but the
loses we my responsability.
