I edited this to be 2 of the assembly.

Let me know if you disagree.

This sticker assembly was added by plankystone
It was approved about 30 days ago. As far as I know, the submitter does not get
notified that his item is approved and added to the catalog so this can be the
reason he did not submit any inventory change request in regard to this item.
Since this was his work and effort, he deserves to also obtain the points related
to corresponding inventory change(s) otherwise I think it is unfair (unless if
he refused to submit inv. change request).

Here is an example of an item I submitted and was approved after few months but
another user submitted the corresponding inv. change request. Unfortunately the
change request was accepted without giving me any chance to submit it myself.

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1351441

So I think regardless of who submits the inv. change request, the submitter of
the item should be notified and be given the chance to submit the corresponding
change request, and then his change request being accepted.
I did research in regard to the variation of this part, and spent the money and
time to submit it to the catalog, yet I was disappointed to see its corresponding
point was given to another user who did not make any effort. This is part of
the reason I stopped submitting many changes I came across with.
[Please do not expect anybody to check the recently items added to the catalog
twice a day to make sure he/she would be the first one submitting the inv. change
request.]

I add that this is not the fault of the other person who submits an inv. change
request.

Some of these that Robert has submitted are months and months since they were
added to the catalog. Some from 2021 and were never added to an inventory.

We know to not accept any requests from other users for parts you have submitted.

Other than you no-one else to my knowledge has flagged this as an issue in the
4 years I have been here.

If they do have a problem with this they can let us know and we can add them
to the list with you

Thanks
Paul.

This is correct and is a flaw in the website.

Since this was his work and effort, he deserves to also obtain the points related
to corresponding inventory change(s)

Catalog credits are relatively meaningless. Not completely, but mostly. As
proof, I've attached a screenshot of users who submitted successful inventory
change requests and were then erased from the system by BrickLink.

If you like seeing your username on a credits wall . . . I guess just enjoy it
while you still can. Because someday we'll all be gone and BrickLink will
erase our identities. And they will not look back or feel bad about it at all,
I promise.

otherwise I think it is unfair

I understand that point of view because I used to hold it myself.

However, the inventory system is more complicated than the catalog system and
a fair number of users do not follow up with inventory change requests. These
parts would be orphaned for months or years (I found both in these recent requests)
if someone did not take the initiative to get them into inventories.

So I think regardless of who submits the inv. change request, the submitter of
the item should be notified and be given the chance to submit the corresponding
change request

I completely agree.

But . . . instead of the LEGO Group making this happen for contributors, I am
really hoping the BrickLink website gets more of what someone in marketing has
decided would be best for us.
