I'm glad to see TLG putting animals in more sets lately. When viewing a
set's catalog page, the 'Consists Of' list includes 'parts'
and 'minifigures'. I'd like to see 'animals' listed as a
third item.

What do you mean by animals? Do you mean only single part animals or small multi-part
ones or larger brick built animals too? The latter ones are typically counterparts
rather than in the main inventory.

yes to all the above. minifigs are not just one piece so why can't we do
the same with animals? It would be nice to know which sets have which animals
and if one such animal was exclusive to a particular set. exactly like how minifigs
are treated now.

You can already do this for any single or multi-part animals. To find out which
sets an animal appears in then go to the animal listing and look at how many
sets it appears in. To find out which animals are in a set, open the inventory
and search for "animal, air" (or dinosaur, land, water).

That's not enough.

There's a benefit to telling us how many, if any, minifigures are in a set
and providing links to them. I'll bet you've used that feature. It
would be equally useful concerning animals.

I can look up minifigures just as you suggest for animals... when I'm being
minifigure centric. But when I'm being set centric, I want info about the
animals just as I get info about minifigures.

I'd like to see both the single part and multi-part animals included. Just
as it's useful to see what specific minifigures are included in a set, it
would be useful to see what animals and how many are included.

The reason this feature has been so useful for minifigures is because it's
painful to look at the parts list to answer the question. Additionally, few
of us could identify exactly which minifigures are included by looking at some
of the parts used to create it. This becomes many times more difficult for animals
which don't use standard "heads" and "torsos".
