| A couple weeks ago, a buyer cancelled their $200 order because "a glitch
in the matrix", whatever that means. I canceled the order and blocked the
user from my store. Today, I get the same order from a different account with
0 feedback. It is the same person, the same address etc. They seemingly created
a new account just to place the order again. Isn't it against policy to
have 2 accounts?

why did you block the initial order after the buyer explained they had an issue
with processing the payment?
obviously the buyer wanted the items & explained there was a problem.
because they then returned to your store having had to create a new account to
get the original order processed through ( because you blocked their 1st account)
only to have you come to the forum to figure out how to punish them more...
???
someone having to cancel an order due to financial a mishap at that moment, only
to have the seller block them & pursue getting them banned from the site for
trying to complete the original order is just weird.

Why post this? This isn't helpful nor is it nice.
When potential buyers read these posts, do you think that they are more or
less likely to purchase from your store?

How do you know the buyer had a problem with processing the payment?
klausunion states that the reason the buyer gave was: "a glitch in the matrix"
That is not an explanation that they have a problem paying, or that they still
want the items.

" 'A glitch in the matrix' is a phrase that refers to an example
of an unusual occurrence that cannot logically be explained" - the internet
not sure if you are aware of what that phrase meant, but that is what it means..
an off-the-wall rare thing that isn't easily explained.
buyer informed the seller there was an unusuual problem that prevented him from
completing the transaction ( assuming it was payment related as nothing was noted
by OP as to a different new address detailing the buyer had moved or anything
else that had changed).
buyer then returned to the store, even going through the process of creating
a new account , in order to buy the original items & complete the transaction.
OP didn't state buyer did not pay the 2nd time, just that they wanted nothing
to do with the buyer & is attempting to get them banned for creating the new
account.
thought that was all pretty laid out by the OP's initial post & follow response
to BL admin..

So why not just say that there is problem with the payment.
As you said "an unusual occurrence that cannot logically be explained"
having a problem with the payment may not be explainable, but could have been
told as such.
It's not a reason that "cannot logically be explained"
'sorry, having problems with the payment' is easy en clear enough.
| buyer informed the seller there was an unusual problem that prevented him from
completing the transaction ( assuming it was payment related as nothing was noted
by OP as to a different new address detailing the buyer had moved or anything

|
No, the buyer quoted a movie line without any context so the OP had no idea what
the actual reason is.
And here you 'assume' that it is payment related, but that is not stated
anywhere.
| buyer then returned to the store, even going through the process of creating
a new account , in order to buy the original items & complete the transaction.
|
And it is not allowed on Bricklink to create a second account, certainly not
for circumventing a block. It would have been better if the buyer had contacted
the seller and ask why he/she could not buy from this seller. Maybe with some
explanation things could have been worked out.
It is also possible that the buyer had a glitch (not in the matrix) and did not
even remember that he/she already had an account.
| OP didn't state buyer did not pay the 2nd time, just that they wanted nothing

|
You don't get banned for a second account. Admin will merge the 2 accounts
and that's it. Only when more accounts are created a ban is considered.
