Hello. I've read several posts about there being a range of "pearl gold"
colors, but I just received an order with Pearl Gold Frogs, and half looks PG
and the other looks like a weird bronze color.. like a cheap gold necklace that
eventually turns your skin green. They came in the same order, so I'm baffled.
Also, to my knowledge, the only gold color for the frogs is Pearl Gold. What
in the name of frog is going on?

Looks like normal pearl gold to me. That version is often called flat dark gold
although it is still pearl gold and not actually the official colour flat dark
gold. Pearl gold varies extensively

hi,
this is quite normal in pearl gold [unfortunately]
it depends on the factory/country where it is made.

personaly I list them separate with a notification beside the item [darker variant]
but Bricklink does not make a distinction in the color list

same with some light gray parts from classic space [darker]
or some red and dark red from the Asian factory

the seller is not to be blamed but it would be better to sell it separate

kind regards,Hans

Good call on selling them separately and making the distinction in the comment.
I'll probably keep them and find a use for them in one of my builds rather
than confuse any buyers who use the automated buy option (can't remember
the actual term). Thank you!

I have used this approach to help out buyers, but once a note is added to the
item seems like they don't sell at all. So it's my opinion that it's
not a good practice, and better to just list all together. Just like listing
used items with a conditional note (better to not list and throw out).

Did you just say that telling your customers what they are buying stops them
from buying so it is better to just sell and send them what they don't want
and be done with it?

What I'm saying is everytime I listed a 'Dark Variant' the items
never sold. I'm only talking about Pearl Gold, most buyers could not tell
or are worried about a slight variant in a color that a seller may notice. You
can continue to list items as you wish but I have not found it is necessary,
and have never had any feedback where a buyer got the wrong color.

For me separating them and saying what is what they still sell fine. Some people
want the darker shade so saying what it is is best

I agree you should list them that way, was just making the point after listing
them this way after many years the items remained too long in my inventory.
Thanks for reading my complete post in its entirety, and not just taking a negative
stab at it.

I call those "Dark, shiner shade" and "Light, flatter shade".
I prefer the former, but I haven't seen it in a new set for several years
now.

My frog drawer has both pearl gold shades in it. This post reminded me to separate
them, thanks!

I'm not so sure here. Those do look darker and more reflective than even
the extremes of Pearl Gold — it should be easy to tell if it's a coating
by checking underneath, since parts are rarely completely covered.

What stands out to me is the molding seam that goes up the front, but slightly
off-center. I looked at my frogs and couldn't find any like it, in any color.
Is it possible they aren't Lego at all?

Completely normal I have had sealed sets that have both colors in them, however
these where other parts of the same type not frogs.

You should always ask the seller if you want a certain shade before you order,
I also try to note shaded in description but don't always get around to it.
