All sets I originally have (opened from new boxes) have the 6 mm arm version. All space police sets require the 6 mm version to hold the cells properly, so the assumption is that the 6 mm version is the default for all sets up to and including 1989. Both versions were in circulation however, so it cannot be ruled out that the 5 mm version is an alternate. This should be confirmed by somebody who owns a new set or has additional info on this.
