Greetings all,

Question - I received negative feedback from a seller because I did not complete
an order. I didn't complete the order and cancelled because the shipping
cost was ridiculously high. According to bricklink policy, that is an acceptable
course of action. I notified the seller why I was cancelling the order. Seemed
to cancel just fine so I assumed this was OK.

However, the seller posted a "NPB" feedback post and then subsequently
blocked me so I can't even communicate a resolution with them.

Is there something that can be done about this? I submitted a feedback removal
request, but who reviews and determines if it can be removed?

Thanks in advance.

Just forget it and move on. After third completed NPB procedure you will be banned.
Assuming from your feedback left to the seller, your order is just cancelled
by the seller

What did you order? How much did your items in the order, excluding shipping,
cost?

As a buyer, you are expected to understand that a large bulky item such as a
set, will require more packaging to properly ship it, and therefore be more expensive
to post.

LEGO parts that are bulky or oddly shaped require more packaging than long thin
pieces that will fit into a bubble mailer or small box. If you order a lot of
parts the box to ship those parts in will require padding and bags for the LEGO
to be placed in. Most LEGO parts orders go by weight and sometimes a little extra
if bulky or oddly shaped.

More information on what you ordered would be helpful. As a buyer you need to
understand what is going into shipping your order, and how it will be prepared.
Don't expect to order a large quantity of 2x4 bricks and receive cheap shipping
in return. All of those pieces will take up space in the box or bubble mailer,
and you will need to understand the size of the box or bubble mailer your order
will be shipped in.

Cheers ...

The order was for 8 items. Qty 4 19mm balls (52629) and 4 of 39370 - the cage
the balls go into. Less than 1 lb of parts in total. Shipping charge was more
than the cost of the parts in total. Parts all fit in a snack sized zip lock
baggy. A small bubble shipping envelope would suffice to ship the parts. Does
that help put it into context? I believe the shipping total was 35.00 US dollars
with the order total around 50.00 US dollars.

The seller asks you to check the likely postage costs on their local mail service
website, or to enquire about the postage cost before placing an order. Did you
do that?

The price of parts is irrelevant to the price of shipping.

It's possible (likely?) that the shipping charge was higher than it ought
to have been. However,

(1) international shipping can be expensive;
(2) I would never send an international package in a small bubble envelope (doesn't
matter what it is - it's going in a box);
(3) the price of the parts doesn't matter - size, weight, and where they're
coming from matter.

The feedback system is a joke since day 1. I've had a neutral feedback for
a shipping that took a month while I've sent it within 24 hours after payment.
And a neutral damage your 100% as much as a negative. Bl doesn't care. Idk
if the seller had all his prices listed. And you have the weight enabled? I don't
give a bad feedback when smd cancels but I have my shipping prices in public.
So people know their weight n price b4 buying...

Blocking only prevents you from buying again from the store.
You still can communicate with the seller. The NPB process is intended to encourage
communication between the buyer and the seller.
A completed NPB protects the seller against negative feedback.

It’s key to note you bought from a seller in Germany and as such shipping is
expected to be more to get it to the states. Their terms state:

“World: as an insured package with tracking and insurance up to 50 euros either
at 17.90 euros up to 3 cm high including packaging up to 2 kg (23 cm x 21 cm
x 3 cm to 2 kg length x width x height) or at 20.40 euros 2 kg and 90 cm (length
+ width + height no side longer than 60cm), otherwise as a DHL package plus 2.00
euros. If in doubt, please ask for the shipping costs. There may be deviations
in individual countries.

Did you inquire ahead of the order to see what the cost would be? Looks like
it would be a minimum of 17.90 euro which is going to be $20+ assuming your order
meets those conditions.

I hate to say it but I think the seller was right to address in this manner.
It’s a bit of work for them to unwind the order and fees and get these items
back into their inventory for sale. They also likely had to package them up to
get the final shipping dimensions and weight.

The negative won’t hurt you as a seller… but know 95% of sellers are more than
happy to send you a quote on shipping ahead of an order.

You have certainly been treated unfairly. Buyers need more protection for this
sort of thing.

That seller has awful feedback IMO. Please in the future vote with you money
and don't spend it with crappy sellers. Also, stick to the USA if you don't
want to get hit with strange shipping costs, as a general rule.

High shipping prices for intercontinental shipping are not strange, they are
fairly common these days. It is why some sellers ask potential buyers to check
first or ask for a quote or stop shipping internationally.
