Hi All - New to Brinklink and first post.

Looking for advice or suggestions for my son. He's still young, but able
to assemble Lego city and speed champions for reference but not technic. I've
bought him sets but he loves to disassemble them after he's built them and
then build his own cities, construction equipment, constructions sites, cars,
etc. He loves cars, trucks, semis, construction equipment, tractors, and buildings/cities.

Looking for suggestions on a set or sets or a third-party store that would have
random Lego sets with bricks and wheels and any special pieces to have articulation,
so he can build his own creations. I'd prefer a set rather than having to
purchase a la cart. I'm a fan of Lego myself, but still new to anything outside
the local Lego store.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

It sounds like many City sets would fit here. There are some good polybags at
the cheaper end all the way up to big sets. Although wheels are typically very
cheap, and you cannot really go wrong with buying 20 of the same wheel and tire
combination (so any picked at random match) and so wheel holders if he is into
building his own.

I can tell you that Speed Champions are among the best value for the money, especially
if you look at the sets that have 2 cars in them, and you'll get a good variety
of wheels and vehicle bases.

Also - I've parted a lot of them out, so if you ever want to try the à la
carte approach, please take a look at my store.
