I am getting married in June and LEGO is a significant part of my fiance and
I's relationship, so we're hoping to gather a decent collection of polybag-style
LEGO sets to set out as wedding favors. We're having 150 guests so it's
a pretty tall order. We don't have any specific theme in mind, just anything
unopened we can get our hands on without breaking the bank. Ideally there would
be a good amount of variety in what we find. Any tips on what to look for, or
how to find a big lot for sale all together? Thanks!

Your best bet would be to buy out the polybag bins of some local Walmarts and/or
Targets, but that would not give you the variety you're looking for. I don't
know of a way to search multiple stores for generic polybags, but the good news
is most polybag sets have the word "polybag" in them, so if you find
a good store, just search "polybag" in the "Search in this store"
box and you'll all the polybags in that store.

Here is the search string I use when searching for polybags.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=polybag&type=S&st=4&ss=US&max=7&minqty=10&showempty=0&rpp=100&tab=S#T=S

Usually the most common ones will be the cheapest, so you can just add the top
40 or so sets to a wanted list and then search for what store has the most in
stock.

In general, if you want a wide variety of polybags, you are going to be putting
in a European order.
Here are a few stores.

https://store.bricklink.com/BrickFlip#/shop
https://store.bricklink.com/Stein_Auf_Stein#/shop

For a large order, you are going to pay around $3.80 per polybag on average including
shipping and tax.

As someone else said, you can raid Walmarts and Targets but they usually only
have 4-5 varieties.

Love that idea.
