I know most everyone doesn't seem to care much about this, but we have a
real problem because of this torso mold issue that came up a few months ago,
and again 2 days ago because of the Deadpool tie to that specific torso mold.

Russel himself implied that those torsos were never actually meant to make it
into sets, therefore Lego would have never printed on them. So how does a 10
year old figure, Deadpool, show up printed on that torso? It seems like this
could be the smoking gun to prove that those figures have been being re-printed
for a long time... Thoughts?

I think the OP is suggesting these are legitimate Lego torsos that have been
custom-printed? Which I'm not sure Russell's post addressed. But isn't
this an issue regardless of what the torso mold looks like? If I were going to
fraudulently sell custom-printed Deadpool minifigs on BL I think I would try
to get ahold of the most normal-looking molds I could find.

I thought custom-printed (on real parts) Deadpool figures had been a known problem
around here for a long time...

Ah, I see. Has there been a discussion about the quality of the print itself
and the likelihood that it's not genuine?

Doesn't it seem like that this issue is fairly small if not contained to
just this minifig? Have there been any others found to indicate a widespread
problem? Do we know how new these figs are or if they have been sitting in a
box somewhere?

I haven't been following the issue closely so I may have missed some relevant
info about it.

Honestly, I just don't know what people expect buying a rare fig from someone
who seems to have a lot of them and at a huge discount? Do you really expect
to be getting the real thing?

It has been brought up, several times, with pictures and explanation, never getting
any traction. The first time I brought it up was in 2018. It’s pretty obvious
when you look at how many Deadpool's have sold vs Wolverine/Magneto… there
is a difference in the print as well, it is very good, but it’s definitely different.
With how many of those figures have sold over the past five years, I would say
it’s easily 10s of thousands of dollars worth of sales.

Would it be possible to be able to have a conversation with someone about this?
Hashing this out in the forum isn’t the way to go. If these are in fact “super
fakes”, like I truly believe them to be, it will send a pretty big shockwave
through BrickLink, and Lego itself.

Not really as bricklink sent out an email saying there were good fakes printed
on real parts but nothing really happened and most people agree they are just
Mexico parts so if they do that same thing for this most will agree it’s just
low quality china parts

The only solution for this kind of issue is provenance. A real seller selling
real goods will have records, tracing the set they were removed from, and very
possibly where/how they obtained that set. If someone purchased a bunch of them
off the internet, then provenance is pretty much lost. The seller has to know
the chain of possession, from the store shelf to their listed lots.
