We grew up hard together, and subsequently are close.

He lives in Sweden, where he came to visit me in Stockholm some 45 years ago.
Unlike me however, he never left. He's currently fighting to keep his life
(cancer) and in that effort, spends much of his time on his property building
out his ideal garden.

I hope some here can find an amount of appreciation for his efforts to create
the micro 'paradisal' environment he and I as barrio kids, fantasized
about. These are the latest pics from Rand's (Randy) efforts.

I'm going back to spend some time with him

Beautiful work. A true master builder! My best wishes for his health.

It is, and he is that. Thanks, I'll pass your sentiment along.

Very kind... Thanks, Mike.

We'll see how it goes. Argued until I give ground, has been our encounters
to date. My brother is uniquely strong willed, is an understatement. I'll
practice the art of acquiescing, now

No, my life and obligations are here. I gotta figure out when I can do it, first.

It is for sure. He's talented, very right brain, my brother.

Sorry to hear that your brother is suffering from ill health.

Thank you. His pain is being managed well, I hear.

He's getting the most advance medical care possible from the world's
leading research hospital, Karolinska in Stockholm. Incidentally, where my daughter
in 95' was born

Hey Cory,

Beautiful garden.
Stereotypical red house in the background.

My best wishes for Rand’s health.

Where in Sweden is your brother?
My dad moved back to Sweden about 15 years ago after 35 years in Canada. He lives
in Bålsta, about 55 km (34 miles) NW of Stockholm.

Yes, it's faluröd. Actually a mineral in the coating that preserves the wood,
and yes used widely in Sweden. Classic Swedish.

That building on the back of his property is very old and used to serve as the
outhouse or crapper, in the yearly days when I would visited him from Stockholm

My best wishes for Rand’s health.

Thanks, Johan. I'll pass it on.

Where in Sweden is your brother?

Norrtälje. Which is directly north rather than NW as your dad. If you know Swedish
history, it's an older harbor settlement, with a lot of let's just say
rambunctious history, including Russian invasion with burning and pillaging

My dad moved back to Sweden about 15 years ago after 35 years in Canada. He lives

Sure, I know it. Off of the E18 heading northwest, if I recall.

Absolutely stunning, just my style, always loved water on a property but never
managed it myself.

Wishing him all the best, hope he’s coping mentally as it’s an odd feeling knowing
you have something like that.

It stems from our childhood.

Randy has held onto his whole life, fond memories of he and I as kids hanging
out at the "Water Gardens". The company and the grounds belonged to the
Millers who were related through marriage to our family. So we were allowed to
just hang out there, if we could manage to get there (a real challenge) It
was an fantasy escape from our reality, so I can understand how and why it impacted
him so strongly into his adulthood.

I have some of the same memories of course, but the experiences didn't influence
me into adulthood, as they did my brother. He talks about it often.

In fact, in one of the pics is a proprietary "Miller" strain of water
lily he somehow was recently able to get hold of, from France of all places.
Every little thing, plants, etc. have been placed with intent, and all built
around his memories from our days at the Water Gardens. You and I look and we
see a menagerie of mostly living things, but he has a purpose and story to tell
about each.

Same for you.

I'd like to be closer to my own older siblings.
I cannot cope with all of those curves!
I'd like to see you together at night in that scene, with a sub-surface light,
getting smashed together by a firepit.
