It's a little hard to tell from the photo. Can you get a better representation
with a different angle? Moving your hand and fingers out of the image would help.
Cheers ...

The pic shows what’s important: the bar goes farther than the stud on the other
blue plate, therefore it’s 6mm, not 5mm.
The fingers are necessary to hold the two parts flush

Looking at the image, I'm not convinced. I'm seeing what might be the
end of the bar sticking up but it's not completely obvious to me.
I would still prefer images with better clarification.
Blue is one of those colors that can be difficult to photograph correctly to
eliminate the difference between the end of a bar and a shadow or dark spot.
Just my opinion.
Cheers ...

I have to convince a Catalog Administrator. The picture's clearest purpose
is to demonstrate that I had the means to determine what was really in the set.
In the case of this part, it is always difficult to get a good shot. But the
picture comes with my assurance that I identified the part.
We are meticulous about catalog work and for good reason, but when a Catalog
Administrator comes to look at my request, they will bring with them knowledge
that the MODERN 5mm piece is not known to have appeared until 9 years after this
set came out. What would require very hard proof would be if I claimed to have
found that one.
