| Is it just me or has anyone else got lots of orders filled with damaged and dirty
pieces recently? Blatantly lying about the condition of an item to sell it is
pathetic yet it’s become such a common practice amongst bricklink sellers.

sadly it's common these days. when I buy used parts on bricklink i "expect"
about 30% of the parts to be unusable do to excessive damage. I've least
favourited dozens of stores and don't even bother messaging sellers now when
I get damaged stuff

Apathy never makes changes. Perhaps there is a veteran builder, who becomes a
seller, but doesn't quite yet understand the very particular nature of many
buyers on Bricklink. Maybe the seller needs a message explaining any potential
neutral / negative feedback and why you're dissatisfied.
I can think of several fragile pieces that often get damaged, and without having
a frame of reference, might appear "normal" to a seller who is new to
Bricklink.
I thought I remembered long ago posts regarding this topic often suggested that
without feedback, people won't know. Communication is key, regardless if
you leave feedback.
And in the distant future, wouldn't it be great is Bricklink made "how
to" videos explaining things like this?

the thing is its not just small issues I'm talking parts covered in bitemarks,
some looking like someone first used some sandpaper on them, cracked torsos,
arms, necks, and legs, entire figures covered in random "stuff" that
i don't even open the bag, extreme discolouring, etc

No, almost never.
Hint: read WELL the feedback profile (not just the % in top of the shop), and
especially Neutrals and Negatives, but not only.

If you're seeking for Used it can help.
Positive Feedbacks like "Very good condition", "Happy of the quality"
whatever can give you an idea of what you can expect. And Neutral/Negatives about
condition also...
Anyway.

to some extent yes but even sellers with 100% feedback with messages about good
quality aren't always good (when talking about sellers with sub 1000 feedback
or so)

Yep, personnaly I wouldn't buy unless the seller has a 3232 feedback rating!

| Most of my orders have been good however I have seen some rubbish even when the
description says it’s in nice condition.
Used has certainly become a lottery, anything from near new to obvious bite marks.
Some sellers seem to think that if it’s 30 years old or more then used includes
teeth marks, heavy wear and deep scratches and you should expect it.
2 days old or 50 years old, bite marks are bite marks and should be included
in the description.
Having said all that there are many outstanding sellers.

...there, fixed it for you...
On a serious note though, I agree that there are definitely some deceptive Sellers
on Bricklink; all you can do is your best due diligence in trying to mitigate
the risks of receiving less-than-great parts when buying from someone...
Checking Seller terms, item descriptions, feedback (*especially* their responses
to any negative/neutral feedback), etc. can all potentially help you find a great
Seller; but even with all that, sometimes you will just receive something less-than-great
when buying used items, and you would hope that communicating that with a Seller
would allow them the opportunity to fix things (& that they will; because even
the best Sellers aren't perfect)...
So all I can say is, keep looking; there are definitely some great, honest Bricklink
Sellers out there (I've ordered from plenty in the last year; feel free to
check them out via my feedback to them; as I always leave it for the great Sellers
I buy from!)...
Life is Good.

It is just you and few others 😀
I have been fully satisfied with my orders. You can check the feedbacks of those
sellers from whom i ordered.
There was only one seller who missed one part. He informed me before sending
the order but he sent the order neverthelss, and gave me extra partial refund,
without giving me option to cancel.
