| Do a search in the search bar for forest guardians. Nothing comes up, on Bricklink,
or on Google. At least nothing comes up that is Lego related. So why has the
creator of set 10305 Lion Knight's Castle taken it upon themselves to change
the name of forestmen, to forest guardians? I'll tell you why, because the
object of that set goes beyond empowering girls, which it definitely intends
to do. Queen instead of King, lady knights, etc. I have 2 daughters, and that
would not be a problem for me. I find it a bit confusing, but I'm down with
those changes. I knew about them before I bought the set. The problem is that
this set poses as a tribute to past sets, but imposes female characters into
places where they were not originally, both in life and in previous LEGO sets.
As noted, even the name forestmen, which is a widely accepted past theme that
is celebrated in the set, has been conveniently changed to forest guardians.
So it ends up being a degradation in my opinion, not a celebration. What the
heck.

| TLG likely made a marketing decision in order to appeal to a wider range of audiences.
They may also have made it more suitable for children who obviously would want
to roleplay a woman in a medieval setting, as this is becoming more common in
movies I've seen that are related in any way to medieval settings.
Cheers ...

I mean,
has been around for a long time, I can understand giving her an updated look
or adding additional female characters - that's no big deal.
I'm not sure "Forest Guardians" is a good name for the theme though.
It implies things that "Forestmen" does not, in addition to implying
that not all the characters are male.

in BrickLink's theme's hierarchy according to the theme that they represent.

All of the themes that are being celebrated by the set are listed on the box.
That's where it says Forest Guardians, instead of Forestmen. And it is
right beside the Forestmen Shield that has the little deer head on it. So it
is quite deliberate.

They are imposing female characters where NO ONE was in life.
The so-called historical themes in LEGO are very poor history. Robin Hood wasn't
real and there was never a faction of people who hid in the woods and wore green.
There were no dragons or sea serpents or wizards or walking mummies. Lego Castle
has always been rife with fantasy.

Well, to be fair, mwright5 didn’t say it was “in life.”
On the other hand, what he’s saying is that is male only and all
forestmen and knights and soldiers were clearly all men; that no child (or adult)
(but actually especially him) ever had the crazy thought that they could be women
too.
And that is the proof placing women in these positions is necessary. Because
boys (and men) already know they can be anything they want. Because boys and
girls don’t think girls can be anything they want too unless they are shown models.
Because if you want things to change, you need to change things.

I don't mind the character line up, at least the soldiers / Knights. The
good thing is that they all have non-female torsos (gender neutral really) so
it is easy to replace heads if you want an all male or all female army. It is
a shame that there isn't a king, but I've got enough of the classic king
CMF to stand in. Plus the lack of the king has pushed his price up, so good for
sellers.

Well, truth seems to be that LEGO just doesn't honestly care about the old
things. They have mistakes about "Lego theme history" in their instruction
booklets of such nostalgia sets, and the "Lion Knight's Castle" is
translated as "Leeuwenridders Kasteel" in Dutch even though if they had
any real interest in the faction, they'd know they were called "de Leeuwenhartridders"
in Dutch.
They had this Lego history article on lego.com (again in Dutch) saying "Majisto"
was the first minifigure with a name, when really already the pirates had names
a few years prior to that AND he wasn't even called "Majisto" but
"Pocus" in Dutch. They work hard pretending to care as much as their
audience, to capture the audience's interest, but it's just too obvious
that in reality they don't.
