| Part has a new mold 3091 sold on pick-a-brick. The differences are
minor (new version on the right):
Inside octagonal hole is more clearly defined
The edge of the outside hole seems to be slightly thicker
The new mold is slightly texturized while the old mold is blank
The top is ugly
In fact, the new mold looks like a fake brick. There, I said it.
Please add this new mold or tell me to create a new part.

Does it have the same number inside?
If so, I think that a new catalog entry is not needed, but including the additional
images in our catalog will avoid confusion in the future.

No. They have the old and the new mold numbers as you'd expect.

What are the mold numbers inside the two parts shown? (Not the design numbers,
but the actual mold numbers.) These look like the kinds of differences that are
seen in molds that are used in China versus molds that are used elsewhere.
Thanks,
Randy

These tiny numbers are very hard for me to read, even through a magnifying glass.
Maybe the B's are 8's.

The B's are common in parts made in China.
There is also a J now.

Honestly, neither of these compare to the original. Since they were making a
new mold anyway, it's too bad they didn't recreate the old one.
The newest one seems to have a more solid color though. If you hold them up to
the light, the older one (of these two) is very translucent.

The catalog admin team unanimously decided not to add a new version of this part
to the catalog after further discussion. Instead, the alternate item number 3091
was added to 88489.
Cheers,
Randy
