New to selling and looking for a bit of insight into all the various fees. Is
my assumption below correct:

I use PayPal for my store, have stripe but default for all my orders seems to
be PayPal.
For domestic sales there is a bricklink charge which is applied after (shows
up in the fees session and is billed monthly) the sale at around 2%.
Then PayPal charges apply which seem to be about 8% on average for the small
orders.

For international sales I have a USD and EUR account but the charges make no
sense to me but seem to be higher than the above for PayPal. BL fees seem consistent.

Is it safe to say for domestic sales you’re looking at around 10% fees per order
or am I missing something major?

Thanks and sorry for the fundamental question!

Wes

Wes

Did find the BL fees section after a quick search (sorry), so 3% for orders under
$500.

Still not sure on PayPal though for local currency and international currencies.

BL fees are 3%. PayPal fees vary depending on the buyer and currency. For a UK
buyer, they are 2.9% plus a fixed fee of 30p.

There is an extra fee if the buyer's paypal account is based in another country
(even if their BL accounts is UK), and you will also be charged a bad rate to
exchange other currencies to GBP if you accept USD or EUR and want to convert
them to GBP.

It really depends on how small the orders are. I find it easier to include the
fixed 30p in the P&P fee as it is a once per order fee. Then you are paying about
6% in BL and PayPal fees, and set sales prices based on that. Similarly, packaging
can be included in the P&P costs as it is a once per order fee.

Super helpful thanks! I never really thought about including the 30p. My orders
are usually under £5 so that 30p adds quite a bit.

I think I’ve now got GBP, EUR and USD PayPal accounts so should have less conversation
rates!

Thanks again!
