Perhaps this has already been suggested and/or talked about. If so, please disregard.

We all know that customers don't read, so banners and/or store terms stating
some extending handling times or something will be ignored, and then have
angry customers. The fix: I'd like to see a toggleable page with a password
to enter a store and/or check out. Much like the "closed store" page,
where you can enter a password to get in, BUT, this setting would still result
in the store being shown in all the various search results. The idea is generally
if someone goes to the store via any method, they will be directed thru a page
that is password locked. This page can have a simple paragraph explaining delays
(work, vacation, or whatever), and the customer must manually enter a password
to get by (for ex, "I agree" ). Once they enter that password, they will
be directed to whatever they were going to (main page, or a specific part). I'd
also like to see this page repeated a second time, just before the final order
submit button, just so that they get reminded of the delay, or whatever it is
the owner is trying to relay.

The point of all this is to force a customer to actually read a short thing ("I'm
away for work, will be back July Xth. You can order, but EXPECT DELAYS. If you
agree, enter with "I agree"" ).

Perhaps this could also be put to use in other ways besides delays. Maybe for
example a seller has had a run of buyers complaining of scratches on certain
new parts. This page could be a slight help, in saying that "part such-and-such
came DIRECTLY out of TLG packaging, and MAY HAVE SCRATCHES", then the password.
The customer is then forced to reconsider and/or accept the possibility
of scratches. Save everyone some headache.

Thanks for the consideration, and any other input.

you are basically requiring buyers to conform to your own ruleset outside of
the standardized Bricklink ruleset for transactions. forcing them to 'agree'
to whatever standards you implement upon the transaction denying them the 'possiibility'
to dispute damage or an undelivered item.

First, terms:

There’s already a checkbox “I agree with the terms” during checkout.
Making it a password / sort-of captcha won’t force people to read the terms more
than the checkbox does.
(“BOX blah,” I only read the blah enough to know that I need check the box.
“Blah blah enter PASSWORD blah,” I enter PASSWORD, I don’t read the blahs.
Just a bit more inconvenient and annoying to find what’s blocking the next step.)

Then, vacations:

Do you mind being least-favourited a lot?
Maybe the buyer can’t or doesn’t want to wait for the seller’s three weeks vacations
to be over.  In that case they need to find another store and that means least-favouriting
the store because that’s the only way a buyer can prevent EasyBuy or Auto-select
to select stores they don’t want.
And once a store is least-favorited, there’s nothing to remind the buyer to un-least-favorite
the store.

Also, either the store is open for business or it’s not.  If the algos can select
a store, that means I can buy from the store NOW.

Seems to me that “not really open / not really closed” suggestions stem from
sellers’ FOMO

The top of the Terms page is great spot for a GIF/photo. Usually the first thing
people notice during checkout.

Like a minifig fighting for its life, buckling under a pile of packages, and
a speech bubble alluding to a bit of delay. Something Mfav-vy, then a follow-up
in plain English.

FTR I do agree with you (whether due diligence is a valid or invalid reason to
cancel is worth noting) but don't see a password lock being implemented.
