Hi All,

I had a buyer in France purchase one thing. I had to send an invoice, which
I did. Shipping was high because shipping from the US to France is high.

For 7 days I did not hear anything from the buyer. Today, I filed an NPB. Suddenly
after an entire week the buyer responds and asks to cancel and says he found
the part elsewhere.

I'm looking for opinions on whether I should cancel or follow through on
the NPB.

Thanks

its best to complete the NPB to protect yourself against possible negative feedback

I would just cancel and move on. You can look at the buyer's feedback to
decide if they might leave a negative. In my experience, no one has ever left
feedback on a cancelled order.

I'd say cancel. He's asking you to do it after all, not that I've
had experience with such an issue.

I'd just cancel, maybe block them. Life's too short.

I would continue the NPB. He had a week to pay or request to cancel early
on. If all sellers let buyers like this get away with cancellations, then they
just continue to do the same thing. If you decide to cancel, I would at least
ask them why they did not give you the courtesy of letting you know sooner, that
purchases on BL are binding.

I think this isn't true, at least not without equivocation. A purchase can't
be legally binding if you don't know the final cost (with shipping).

Yes, you basically can't be agreeing on something you don't know what
you agree.

But now John P. comes and say "But that's exactly what marriage is!"

I am very patient with buyers. But this buyer did not ask to cancel until after
the NPB was filed, and that is enough for me to give him an NPB strike, and negative
feedback.

Strike?

You know, but sometimes one makes a mistake, or is in a weak position, encounters
huge difficulties - car, health, relationship, kid, job, money, administration,
family... at this moment an order (I guess small?) isn't the first priority...

And who knows, one day you may need some comprehension, you know... Karma and
all that

Depending on the case, I may accept and cancel but before, I tell them I would
cancel if they first leave a positive feedback (because that was not my fault...)
Otherwise, I would continue the NPB process. If they communicate again and apologize,
then I go back to the step above, i.e. require them to leave a positive feedback...

Could this not be viewed as feedback extortion and therefore against the TOS?

Absolutely.

And he didn't change those neither:

Tracking is mandatory for orders of value more than $30 CAD for buyers who have
not left any positive feedback for their previous orders.

If you get charged VAT twice, you will not leave a neutral or negative feedback
for your order...

This situation can be easily avoided but if you decide to submit a claim on PayPal
to get your refund or leave a bad feedback, we contact PayPal about the situation...

If you try to force the NPB instead, the buyer might pay. Then you better make
sure you have tracking / proof of delivery otherwise it might get 'lost'
on route.

Consider cancel.

When i get a small order with high shipping costs i give the buyer the choice
to cancel right away.
