Hello,
I’m pretty new and something just came up that I wanted to ask about.

I got a message from someone that expressed interest in buying an item from my
store. It’s my first sale so of course I’m excited. Buyer has all positive ratings.
Buyer states that they are from another country ( I only ship to the USA)but
they have a relative here that I can ship to. Buyer asks for more pictures and
I supplied them. Buyer is now asking for my PayPal information because they can’t
buy through BrickLink. I’ve replied that not selling through BrickLink would
violate the terms of service that I’ve agreed to as a seller.
I’m not sure what the issue is/ why they can’t purchase through the site. As
much as I’d love to get that first sale under my belt, I’m not going to proceed
with the sale.

Did I handle this correctly? I don’t want the buyer to get upset and say negative
things about me/my store.

it's a scam, do not reply to them anymore.
if they want to buy it, they can / will.

do not hand out info to non-customers.

Update: I suggested that the buyer have his relative purchase the item. I’m awaiting
payment. Perhaps it was a communication issue but it seems to have been resolved.

If the buyer is also a seller, they can't change their address on BL to one
in another country without having to go through the seller verification process
again.

Partially, yes, I would also report the buyer for violating the TOS, you can
not buy or offer to buy outside of BL since that would be fee/tax avoidance.

Sounds scammy to me, I would proceed with caution with this buyer or their family.

Thank you all for your thoughts. It’s so nice knowing that people will jump in
and help when needed.

I have gotten a notification from PayPal that I have received payment. The transaction
did go through BrickLink so it was taxed, etc. I have not accepted it yet as
I am at work. The buyer is not a seller and they have been on here for a couple
of years with 10 plus praises. I am trying to cover myself by taking step by
step pictures of the item as it being packed, the labeled shipping box, and I’ll
save my post office receipt. I’m also paying extra out of pocket to get a signature
on delivery.

Thank you all again,

K

If it is not a high-value order, I would not suggest the signature delivery.
It can cause a hassle for your buyer if they are not at home. If you do ship
it this way, be sure to let them know ahead of time so they can make arrangements.

Thank you. I did tell the buyer that I was doing it for their protection.
