Do you know any third party insurance giving coverage for shipment sent by CanadaPost?

For example, tt is helpful for adding extra insurance with tracked internationl
option for which CanadaPost only gives $100 coverage max.

I hardly believe Canadian Posts can't insure their own shipments !?

Here it's - for normal shipments - up to 5000€, but more's available
with some contracts, etc.

USA or international Tracked (which is not even available on netParcel) gives

Letter mails sent in Canada without tracking have no insurance.

In the past, it was possible to add insurance to these shipping options via insurepost.com
but they don't insure for CanadaPost any mroe since CanadaPost.

Additional Liability Coverage

You may buy Additional Liability Coverage of up to $5,000 for qualifying shipments,
in increments of $100. This includes Prepaid envelopes and labels, but excludes
flat rate boxes and Xpresspost Certified. Except for Priority service, where
Signature is a no-charge option, purchase of the Signature option is mandatory
for Additional Liability Coverage. You must select all options at the time of
shipping to make sure they’re properly captured and linked to the unique tracking
number.

That seems to correspond to our 5000€ max insurance.

Really, I'm not sure to understand the problem.

he said "USA or international Tracked (which is not even available on netParcel)

be insured up to $100 but I don't use Canada post directly for parcels at
all so i couldn't tell you if its like that

For international packages, Tracked Packet service (which I believe is what they
are referring to), is limited to $100. So is the US version. You cannot purchase
additional insurance.

You can however purchased additional insurance when using the Xpresspost service,
which absolutely nobody would because it's out of this world expensive lol.

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/business/shipping/international/compare/tracked-packet-international.page

Sorry Sezar; I haven't used any in a long time. A while back I used InsurePost
but I'm not sure that they cover it anymore.

Oh sorry not the insurance itself, it's a flat $2.50 per $100. The Xpresspost
service is VERY expensive.

So to a random address in France, a 100g #0 bubble mailer is $17.18 using the
cheaper Tracked Packet Intl service (for the rate I have anyways) including $100
insurance. I cannot add extra insurance for $ with this service.

Xpresspost International = $48.77 with the base $100 insurance. I can additional
insurance for an extra $2.50 per $100.

And here's what the Tracked Packet version. You can see the Coverage section
is grayed out. The pic I posted in the other reply showing Xpresspost has it
not grayed out allowing you to enter an amount of additional coverage over the
base $100.

OK, but forget the critical example of something both very light and expensive,

Say you'd to ship 5 kg to here, plus insurance for 1000€?
From here it'd be around 76€.

5KG with $1000 CAD insurance = $144.11CAD (approx 99 Euros). And that's not
even equivalent because we can only insure a max of $1000CAD with Xpresspost
International. 1000€ = ~C$1455, which wouldn't even be possible (but if it
could, it would be about $155CAD total).

So we're very close: I never count the fuel surcharge (I can't make a
rate when it changes every month - so we just eat it).

Approx 76€ + 20€ = 96€, which is very close to your 99€ calculation.

In short, you don't have (viewed from here) a very expensive rate.

I think insurance options in the US may be better then in other countries but
our shipping costs for overseas have become outrageous. Thru Our shipping service
we pay $1.55 per $100.00 of insurance for overseas orders (75 cents for every
$100.00 for domestic orders) so an overseas order would cost $15.55 for $1000.00
of insurance but if it's weight was just 33 ounces then the shipping would
cost at least $42.00.

Still genuinely interested.

But it seems OP should use another shipper.

Really, I'm not sure to understand the problem.

I am sure you, being in France, don't understand the problem
But if you are curious

Example 1: I have an order to Hong Kong. Value of order is $700

Option 1: CanadaPost Tracked: it costs about $60. The coverage is only up to
$100 and it is not possible to buy extra coverage.

In the past, it was possible to buy more coverage (up to $1000: For each extra
$100 about $2 CAD) with a third part insurance like insurepost.com but they don't
insure packages with CanadaPost

Option 2: XpressPost (CanadaPost): it costs about $100-120. The coverage is only
up to $100 and it is possible to buy extra coverage

Option 4: A private courier like ChitChats. it costs about $35. The coverage
is up to $300 so it is good but there is no return! If the package is not delivered,
it will be disposed of!

Option 5: UPS via netParcel. Quite the same as ChitChats with the difference
than if the package is not delivered, they can return it by charging me something
about $500 !

P.S. not sure if you noticed but there was no option 3 above.

So, ship it for $100+insurance.

Shipping is FAR FAR FAR more expensive than 10 yrs ago; just see the gas gallon/liter
(or the eggs) price.

Apart if you find an extraordinary shipper, then please 'simply' invoice
this price?
We're all at the same rate, pal

When I used Snap Ship I could add $1000 insurance to US Expedited Parcels, at
the $2.50/$100 rate. It won’t work for small tracked packet but at least that’s
an option for American shipments.
As Sarah mentioned, in terms of international shipping the extra insurance only
seems to apply on XPresspost, at least on Snap Ship.

When I used Snap Ship I could add $1000 insurance to US Expedited Parcels, at
the $2.50/$100 rate. It won’t work for small tracked packet but at least that’s
an option for American shipments.

I buy my labels via CanadaPost but these are the exact options CanadaPost has
on its website.

Thanks

As Sarah mentioned, in terms of international shipping the extra insurance only
seems to apply on XPresspost, at least on Snap Ship.

Do you know any third party insurance giving coverage for shipment sent by CanadaPost?

For example, tt is helpful for adding extra insurance with tracked internationl
option for which CanadaPost only gives $100 coverage max.
