| This is for a package I dropped off at the post office on June 14. In going from
Cincinnati to Cleveland it actually got farther from the destination.

I once had a package that needed to go from here (Tennessee) to Canada. It went
to Florida and then back to my local USPS more than 6 times before finally actually
going. It was so weird.

This happens quite frequently. I had a package from Florida to Virginia arrive
in Maryland, then travel to NC, then on to Tennessee, then back up to Maryland,
before finally arriving at my post office in VA.
As long as the package is moving, it will eventually get to its destination.
When you do not see any updates for 3 days, that is when you should get worried!

That's happened at least 2 times for this package. The buyer to his credit
has been great about it.

My most recent parcel bouncing was destined for Pomona, California which is just
a few miles East of Los Angeles. But, the package went to Oregon once, then
back to LA, then to Seattle, then back to LA and finally to Pomona and the correct
address.
All this bouncing around actually occurred pretty quickly (I guess via air travel)
and the package was only 2 or 3 days late, despite a ton of frequent flyer miles.
A few weeks ago, I shipped two parcels that were going to the SAME zip code and
both were first class parcels, so nearly identical. One went to Boston by truck
via Albany, NY and Springfield, MA. The other went by plane to Newark, NJ and
then to Boston. Both were delivered the same day, if I recall correctly, so
one routing path was not faster than the other and both hit the mailstream at
the same time on the same day.
Go Figure.

No matter where you go, you're never far from Cleveland: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_(disambiguation)

Sometime, back during the pandemic I think, I shipped a package from Florida
to Pennsylvania. USPS sent it via Southern California. 🙄

A couple of years back I had a European order go to various U.S. states. The
tracking was just bonkers.
