I am wanting to download Bricklink Studio to a new laptop but wanted to know
what to do about custom parts from Part Designer. Can I transfer all of the parts
I have already exported to the new laptop or will I have to go into Part Designer
on the new laptop and re export them all over again?

Hi,

You can copy your CustomParts folder to your new PC.
Be sure to have started Studio at least once on your new laptop, so the directory
structure is ready.

You’ll find the CustomParts folder in your user folder and the use folder is:
on Windows: C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Stud.io\
(AppData is hidden)
on MacOS: /Users/{YOUR USERNAME}/.local/share/Stud.io (.local
is hidden)

Also, the dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

Please search the forum for your question before posting a new one (the search
box is in the very dark grey banner).
There’s indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
Studio: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5579
PartDesigner: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5589

Happy building

BTW, you may also want to copy/transfer the Buckets subfolder: it contains your
custom palettes and your Hidden Parts palette.

If you have Render presets, they are in RenderTemp/Presets.

If you have Instructions styles, they are in Instruction.

The file customRenderRotationInfo.txt contains the changes you made to the thumbnails’
view angles in the Building Palette and/or in parts lists in instructions.

For the rest of your preferences, like shortcuts or favorite colours:
— on Windows, they are in the Registry (so a bit of a pain to transfer),
— on Mac, they are in a configuration file, in the “usual location” for such
files (I don’t know where that is, undoubtefully a hidden directory somewhere
in ~/ ).
