Date standards:
If you count days 1 to 7, Monday is number 1.  (Sunday is 7.)
If you count days 0 to 6, Monday is also number 1.  (Sunday is 0.)

This map is also interesting: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:First_Day_of_Week_World_Map.svg

Interesting. But all you need to do is look at a calendar or colander if you
also want to make spaghetti, at least in the Western countries. The first day
on each line is Sunday.

Seems we don’t share the same definition of “Western countries” because on French
calendars (when they are not vertical) the first column is “lundi” (Monday)

Anyway:

See! Vertical. We do not read vertical but left to right and the first one is
Sunday. Of all the people in the world I do not think that they would put a
work day first.

See! Vertical.

Vertical calendars show 6 or 12 months per page.  Each month a column.  January
on the left, December on the right.  See, left to right

Well, for us, the weekend is a reward at the end of the week, hence its name
in French: weekend.

We also tried to replace the week by the décade (primidi, duodi, …, décadi),
whose first day was clearly primidi, but it didn’t last long.

In America, we usually structure our calendars such that the first day of the
week is Sunday and the last day of the week is Saturday.

In Europe, they usually write their calendars such that the first day of the
week is Monday and the last day of the week is Sunday.

Except Portugal and Malta apparently, where the first day of the week is Sunday.

In some Muslim countries, the week begins on Saturday and ends on Friday.
And in the Maldives, apparently the first day of the week is Friday?

The truth is, the week has no beginning or end, because it is a cycle.

Personally, I think Thursday should be the first day of the week.
