I’ve used plastic pliers. The ones used for working on phones.

Maybe soak them in warm water , then try gently to pull them apart ?

Grab the bottom one with your right hand,

Open the garbage with your left hand,

Insert.

When that happens to me I use one of these. You must be careful though so get
the machine positioned right in the middle. Works every time. This happens
to me frequently.

Great idea but what if you live in a second story apartment? How do you get it
upstairs and once you do then what?

You need to get some Technic liftarms and pins from your personal stock, and
build a jig around the stuck parts so you have something to grip on. Once that
is done, simply pull them apart.

I suggest some Technic pins connected onto liftarms aligned together so that
the pins will hold onto the holes where pins go, and this should give enough
rigidity to get them apart.

I'm not sure if the holes are 1/2 length or full pin length, use appropriate
type if you have them.

Cheers ...
