Hello all, so wanted to buy a figure from bricklink and its 12 pounds. however
the shipping says TBD. i only have a small budget so i might not be able to afford
the figure. What do i do if the shipping turns out to be a ridiculous amount,
when i have already paid the seller?

First, see if you can Request a Quote from your seller. It will be an option
on the last page of the order confirmation process from your shopping cart.

Second, read through the store's Terms and see if you can determine for yourself
how much the shipping is likely to be.

Third, you won't be paying for the item until the shipping is added to your
order. Your seller will first send you an invoice with the total costs. I would
not advise placing your order unless you have tried steps 1 and 2, or are willing
to pay reasonable shipping costs.

We can give you an idea of what to expect for shipping for one minifigure if
we know the country you are looking to buy from.

If the seller invoices you and you have already paid, then then seller should
not be adding on more for shipping. Ask how much shipping is before ordering,
or shop from a store that uses instant checkout.

What figure weighs 12 pounds?

- I recommend not buying the figure if you're on a budget where shipping
might break you.
- If you absolutely have to have it, I recommend finding another store with instant
checkout so you'll know the exact cost.

lol at myself. The way it was written about affording shipping I just assumed
that was the weight. But my other point is event more true now I think. If spending
12 pounds on lego figure + a couple of pounds for shipping is causing this much
stress, there are probably more important things to spend that money on.

Message the seller and ask them how much shipping is for the item in question.
Worst case scenario you can cancel the order if the shipping cost is too high.

For a 12-pound minifigure shipping is bound to be pretty expensive.

Pound as in British pound.

For anyone who really wants to know, Google gives this answer:

Precious metals like gold and silver are measured using the “troy” system where
there are 12 ounces in a pound. If you normalize everything to mass a pound of
feathers is 454 grams and a pound of gold is 373 grams, therefore the feathers
are technically heavier.

Cheers ...

Even ChatGPT is confused…

Both £1 of feathers and £1 of gold weigh the same, which is £1. The weight
is determined by the monetary value (£1) rather than the material itself. However,
it's worth noting that gold is much denser than feathers, so a £1 worth of
gold would occupy significantly less space compared to a £1 worth of feathers.

It just goes to show it really does depend on who you ask!

In terms of value, £1 worth of feathers and £1 worth of gold are the same. However,
if you were to physically weigh £1 worth of feathers and £1 worth of gold, they
would not weigh the same.

Gold is far more expensive than feathers. So for £1, you would get a very small
amount of gold, which would weigh much less than the larger amount of feathers
you could get for the same price.

So to clarify, if you're talking about the physical weight of what you can
buy with £1, the feathers would likely weigh more because you can buy more of
them for £1 compared to gold. But if you're talking about value, £1 worth
of feathers and £1 worth of gold are equivalent because both are worth £1.
