| Hi,
I have an order where the buyer has paid, but this has not been updated on BrickLink
- probably paid directly through PayPal.
I have asked the buyer to update their order and identify as paid, but no response.
I have shipped the order, but I am unable to update the status to 'Shipped'
as this is not available in the drop down list.
Is there a workaround?

Typically one would refund the buyer and ask him or her to pay onsite. But I
see you've already shipped! The buyer has no ability to update an order to
paid when it's supposed to be paid onsite.

Can you change the payment status to paid with the edit order button?

Can you change the payment status to paid with the edit order button?

I don't think you can while using on site payment.
This is linked to a specific on site payment, not to the fact this amount has
been paid or not.
IMO.

Can you change the payment status to paid with the edit order button?

No, that does not appear on the drop down selection.
There is a check box against orders when I place an order with the heading 'Paid'
so that if I pay by an alternate method, or directly with PayPal (not though
Bricklink) I can check this box to indicate the order has been paid. This is
what I am requesting the buyer to do.
Ultimately, I have the money and he will get his goods. Its just the order will
remain as outstanding.

As said by others, if the payment was to be Onsite, the buyer doesn’t that checkbox,
they have a “Pay” button instead… and it will stay this way until they pay again
through BrickLink.
Or until you change the payment method… but, (again said by others), if this
was an order from EU, UK or the USA, there’s no other way to pay than with an
Onsite payment method so that BL can collect taxes.
If there’s taxes, you need to refund and ask the buyer to pay Onsite: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1401495

If tax was included in this order, then the payment must be Onsite so that BrickLink
may collect it.
