I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to build a Lego set.

Set No: 8376 Name: Hot Flame
*
8376-1 (Inv) Hot Flame
257 Parts, 2003
Sets: Racers: Radio Control
After I finished it and ran it around for about 2 minutes checking to make sure
it worked on all 3 channels; I started thinking about how much fun I had building
it. This led me to think about my favorite theme which led me to think about
my top 3 and top 5 themes.

1) Harry Potter-I am super passionate about this theme!
2) Western
3) Castle & Ninjago are pretty much tied
4) Town / City

What is / are your favorite theme(s)?

OMG, I forgot all about DRAGONS!!! Any thing that has dragons is in my top 5
so Elves would have to be included in that list.

I am hoping to get Rivendell for my birthday this month but my husband mentioned
second mortgages and loans so I am not so certain I will get it.

Ohh... Could it be possible if your husband, friends, relatives would all take
part to the cost of the set, so you could have it?

3) Castle & Ninjago are pretty much tied

It was amazing to get to see all those boxes for sets that I own and a few I
don't own!

Thank you for sharing!

1) Harry Potter-I am super passionate about this theme!

Me too! And doubly exciting, HP was one of the first themes to introduce Light
Nougat skin tones. Can't explain why, but it immediately inspired me to customize
(mostly Castle) minifigs into Roman legionnaires and gladiators.

  2) Western

Loved this theme, twice over. Gave away ALL the horses during a Dark Age. Ow.

  3) Castle & Ninjago are pretty much tied
4) Town / City

I have soft spots for everything you mentioned, and others like Aquazone, Exo-Force
and Classic Space. But my ride-or-die's have to be Star Wars and Bionicle.

*I'm a nut for the Star Wars' Expanded Universe! Karen Traviss' Republic
Commando series and Timothy Zahn's Thrawn, BioWare RPGs and cinematic trailers,
and Genndy Tartakovsky's animation style. Bionicle is simply my favorite
Lego IP. Especially the comics and story serials/podcasts.

(Test parts and Grangemouth bricks are my unofficial favorites.)

Those are some very cool parts!

I own a double handful of Bionicle figures like Toa Mata Nui, Brutaka, and a
couple others. I also have a few Hero Factory sets like Von Nebula and Witch
Doctor.

I have a real thing for Star Wars droids. Any droids, NO, ALL droids. My husband
jokes that my buying all the new droids will bankrupt us.

I would also love to hear an explanation of why I go a little googly eyed over
Minions.

Did I mention I own every Mixel set?

Cute lil fellas!

That explains why I didn't recognize them. I have not built any of my Star
Wars other than

Set No: 6211 Name: Imperial Star Destroyer
*
6211-1 (Inv) Imperial Star Destroyer
1323 Parts, 9 Minifigures, 2006
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6
since we finished our display room. The only other sets
that are built so far are 2 custom castles I did for my husband over the years
and those were packed away fully built so they don't really count. This set
also

Set No: 7991 Name: Recycle Truck
*
7991-1 (Inv) Recycle Truck
202 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2007
Sets: Town: City: Traffic
oh and one of my favorites

Set No: 10133 Name: Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) GP-38 Locomotive
*
10133-1 (Inv) Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) GP-38 Locomotive
400 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2004
Sets: Train: 9V

The next set I plan on building is

Set No: 71043 Name: Hogwarts Castle
*
71043-1 (Inv) Hogwarts Castle
5975 Parts, 28 Minifigures, 2018
Sets: Harry Potter: Sculptures
but I am looking for a smallish
table about 2 1/2 feet high that I can use to display it on next to my large
table that I am planning a full-size Hogwarts Moc on.

That BNSF set is just beautiful. Before I got in to lego as a kid I was hardcore
in to model railroads but I think my parents realized lego was cheaper.
I'd love to see some of these classic locomotives done at minifig scale and
I think TLG would make a killing if they went after the iconic ones like the
Santa Fe Super Chief.

But on your other note, I'm a castle guy. I loved the old classic castle
sets as a kid but they were too rudimentary. Along comes the Hogwarts set you
mentioned and it really gave me a lot of ideas. The whole reason I even got
on Bricklink was to build a 96x96 fold out castle on a mountain that's about
35 bricks high with a gold mine and tunnels beneath it, with the castle filling
out one of the 48x48 squares and being at least 50 bricks high. the glass windows
of the hogwarts set along with some of these new tree designs from the LOTR new
set have me now exploring adding a camp of raiders down on the lowest terrain
plate.

One day. Ooooone day we'll start building it.
