Hi I'm new, so not sure where to say this or if anyone cares. I noticed a
possible mistake in the inventory for the Black Monarch's Castle (6085-1).
It lists 5 light grey 2x2 as 3003old. but I still own my set from childhood and
it has the 3003 variation with the little support ridges on the inside. Maybe
there were differnet releases, I don't know. So not sure if it should have
both listed, or swapable, or what. Thanks.

Were the pieces to the castle mixed in with other Lego pieces that did not go
to the castle or were the Lego from 6085 kept together and separate from all
other Lego?

3003old were used from 1954 through 1988 while 3003 were used from 1984 to present
day so there is some overlap.

Having just inventoried my own

Set No: 6085 Name: Black Monarch's Castle
*
6085-1 (Inv) Black Monarch's Castle
639 Parts, 12 Minifigures, 1988
Sets: Castle: Black Knights
, it also had

Part No: 3003  Name: Brick 2 x 2
*
3003 Brick 2 x 2
Parts: Brick {Light Gray}
in it however,
all 185 lbs. of my collection were stored in large bins by color and all the

*
3003old Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports
Parts: Brick {Light Gray}
were used in Classic Space sets,

Set No: 6080 Name: King's Castle
*
6080-1 (Inv) King's Castle
627 Parts, 12 Minifigures, 1984
Sets: Castle: Lion Knights
, and

Set No: 6067 Name: Guarded Inn
*
6067-1 (Inv) Guarded Inn
232 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 1986
Sets: Castle: Lion Knights
when my
husband and I put all the sets back together again leaving none left for 6073
or 6085.

Could have mixed a little with my brother's castle which had 3 (3003) blocks.
But All 5 in my set are (3003) with 0 (3003old) so very unlikely that I lost
all 5, swapping all 3 with his set, and somehow finding 2 more somewhere. Box
and instructions both have 1988 copyright, so that would fit with overlap and
different releases.

Change log shows that (3003) used to be listed as an alternate until Oct 2020,
but was deleted by user paulvdb.

Thanks SylvainLS,
So because there is a slight chance that my set got those pieces mixed, does
that mean it is net credible enough evidence? I'm pretty confident that it
came with the (3003), just not 100% sure.

I don’t know, that’s the catalogue people’s decision
