| I saw a listing for a vintage train set. The listing stated "original box
and instructions". I requested pics. Since it is important to see the inside
it is not uncommon to get pictures with the front flap raised showing the inside.
If one wants to be dishonest the angle of the picture may not show a torn or
missing flap. An honest seller will describe box imperfections specially if front
flap is totally torn and missing.
So seller, after listing set as having "original box", does not disclose
the missing front flap and sends a carefully angled picture of the inside of
the box.
I received the set and communicated with the seller my dissatisfaction. The seller
stated that even though he described the set as having the original box since
he sent a picture (of the inside of the box) I should haven know the box was
missing the flap.
So I post a negative feedback for the seller for being dishonest. He retaliates
with childish tit for tat and gives me a negative post.
So a dishonest seller gets a negative post and they, in turn, retaliate with
a negative post to a buyer who has done nothing wrong except complain about the
bad deal.
Not a good system that allows dishonest sellers to post negatively against a
seller how has a legitimate complaint, waited for seller to resolve the dispute.
Got no relief, I am out a prime amount of money, I received a set that is not
worth half. Paid quickly (as i do in all my other transactions) and got a negative
feedback?
How does the feedback work here in BL? Should I have not posted a negative feedback
and allow this seller to fleece other buyers? Is silence golden? what is the
value of positive feedback is the system does not not allow - or punishes honest
feedback?

It doesn't look like anything in the feedback is wrong. You asked for photos
and received them and went ahead. If the box condition was important to you then
you should have asked for more photos or particular views of the box as well
as obvious questions such as is tgere any damage to the box. What were the hidden
fees you mention in feedback?

| You might get feedback and advice when you share the pics you got from the seller
and the pics you took of the delivered box.
So we can see for ourselves.
There's just text. Maybe that's the problem too.....

| The “bad” feedback you got says more about the seller and will hurt him more
than it does you. I don’t think any seller is going to be worried about selling
to you. Thanks for being honest with your use of the feedback system.

It's impossible to tell unless you share the carefully angled pic the seller
sent you.
Up to you, though, if there was no front flap visible in the image, I would definitely
be having second thoughts about placing an order.
If the front flap is deliberately obscured or not visible at all, then I would
request the seller send an image of the front flap, if it has one. If it doesn't
have a front flap, I'd expect the seller to state that, if they are being
honest with me.
Did you look at the description of the item whilst in the seller's store?
Sometimes there is text describing what is missing, if this was included, it
would have been shown both in the listing and on your order.
Usually, if something is missing, that should be stated in the description. It
could be implied, though, that the seller meant only the box, and not the front
flap. This could be an error in describing the listing on the seller's part.
You could go to the Help Center and file a report about the item not being as
described. It really depends on whether the seller intentionally left out the
detail about the missing front flap and at best any retaliatory negative feedback
either party left may get removed.
If the seller was honest about the item, they should be willing to admit their
error in listing the item and settle with you in some way.
Cheers ...

| Communication is the key to have possibly avoided this…
Did you message this seller and mention that it was missing the flap before posting
feedback? If you would have, he may have given you a partial refund. (Or he may
have been a total jerk, but that is only 50/50 chance)
Maybe if you try to resolve this problem with the seller now, then the feedback
can be removed on both sides. Just avoid the “I want a partial or full refund
OR ELSE I’ll leave my negative feedback on!” Because that will get you banned
from the site very fast for using feedback extortion.
If you do end up messaging him, just apologize for the feedback, explain the
problem, and see the way he reacts. Keep the question of changing or leaving
feedback out of all the messages and just explain what happened. You can be surprised
by some of the awesome kindness there can be on this site! 😉
