Hi everyone .
I received an order .
Buyer asked no quote before (no mail , quote request is impossible ).
I answered him about costs .
No mail again and as answer , he filled an OCR .
Obviously I hate this way of doing things .
I cancelled the order .

Than I mail him : "Next time send a mail to request a quote .Oh but there
won't be any next time here !!!!"

Still no answer but ... he gave me a negative feedback .

Is it normal ? possile ?

Can I cancel this feedback ?

There was no transaction . No payment .

Thanks for your answers .

'... Oh but there won't be any next time here "

There was no need for that I guess....?

Action - reaction stuff again.

When OCR is completed, one shouldn't be enanbled to enter feedback. Seller
and buyer should be blocked for giving feedback on a transaction that didn't
take place.

It should depend how the OCR was reached. If the seller initiates it and completes
it, the buyer should be allowed to leave feedback. Sellers would be able to take
bank transfer or other non-returnable payment, cancel the order and the buyer
cannot leave feedback.

I don't agree. Some sellers DO abuse on Cancellation.
Like "Oh Smurf I could have sold this twice its price, let's cancel and
re-upload!"

Hello,

Let me see if I understand:

A buyer placed an order (not a quote as you request in your terms.)

You sent this buyer a message regarding the shipping costs.

In response to this message, the buyer requested to cancel.

You cancel and then send a message that was considered rude.

The buyer left you negative feedback.

Here are some things to know. Buyers aren't required to request a quote even
if you ask them. However, they should be able to get an idea of shipping costs
from your terms. I just looked through them and I have to admit I can't really
read the chart or tell what costs would be. There are lots of odd colors and
fonts and stuff going on.

Buyers are allowed to leave feedback for mutually cancelled orders. If this buyer
hadn't left feedback before, I certainly understand why they would after
receiving your last communication. It might be a language barrier, but it was
definitely very rude.

If I were you, I would remove the negative feedback you left, get an English
speaker (or native speaker to your buyer) to help you send a very polite message
explaining your situation, apologizing for your rude message, and asking if they
might consider removing their negative feedback with lessons learned on both
sides.

Good luck,
Jen

Hello
So , you mean you find normal to order and than to fill an OCR if you find postage
costs are too high ?
But I will spend my time to cancel orders ...
Is it so difficult to ask before ?
BL does not allow new members to use the "request a quote" option .
To me , it wouldn't have to be an option . Things should be easier if it
was mandatory .
For the rest , sorry but I won't apologize for these 2 "rude" words
.
I agree with you to say feedbacks wouldn't be allowed in case of OCR .
Thanks for your answer and sorry for my "french" English .
I think this red one will stay there forever .
Regards
Jean

You won't waste so much time to cancel an order. I cancelled a lot despite
i accept quotes but never mail to buyer about it or move him/her on blacklist
for that.

Yes, that is totally normal:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=79
"Seller provided a shipping fee that was too high (not clearly stated in T&C)"

But I will spend my time to cancel orders ...

You're not really getting so many orders that you would spend a lot of time
on this. It probably wouldn't take any more time than putting a quote together
(which won't necessarily turn into an order).

Part of getting money is investing time. Selling is not easy and it is time
consuming. I cannot believe you listed "wasting time." That is part
of selling. I had a minimum buy and if some needed one cheap part, I would spend
my time and just send it to them for free. No selling the item, just giving
it away. The result was a happy member of Bricklink, but important also, was
the member coming back and buying a lot more in the future. The buyer is what
is important, not, and I repeat not, the seller's time. That is the secret
of success, and not counting on the money until 30 days after the transaction
is completed, then the money is yours (in my opinion.)
You were nasty in talking down to a buyer. I am a rather nasty person, but I
controlled what I said in my replies. I do not think you have learned that from
this transaction. Maybe from all the replies you might get the message, anger
causes problems. Somehow, I doubt that though.

Set up Austo-Checkout, and you'll have almost zero problem.

EU law requires that you do this on request without any reason needed from the
buyer. Also without penalty.

That may be true but all shipping cost information is there. The seller may not
be a graphic artist or an HTML expert but I can read the shipping costs from
his terms.

I also like how the seller explains his packing policy: "Used sets are always
sent disassembled and stored by colors in plastic bags (sometimes several colors
with few parts together)."

I think the forum is too hard to this seller. He made a rather rude comment but
that can happen.

But I do urge sellers from French speaking countries to use Google translate
when compiling their terms or posting to the forum.

You sent an aggressive coment to the buyer, so it is not a surprise they left
negative feedback. You should have cancelled and stop listed without the sparky
comments.

So he acted wrong (order w/o asking about costs before , he asked in comment
in the order) and finally I'm penalized for that .
I find that incredible ...

You received several answers, all explaining the same issue, yet you insist on
arguing you are right.

If you are not willing to listen and learn, why did you start this thread?

You are not being penalised for that. You are being penalised for being rude
to the buyer after you agreed to cancel the order. I doubt the buyer would have
left negative feedback if you were not so rude to him.

So he acted wrong (order w/o asking about costs before , he asked in comment
in the order) and finally I'm penalized for that .
I find that incredible ...

You are not being penalised for that. You are being penalised for being rude
to the buyer after you agreed to cancel the order. I doubt the buyer would have
left negative feedback if you were not so rude to him.

The seller has 65 lots for sale. I can understand why he is upset when a buyer
cancels the order. Please be kind.

He asked for people's opinion. People gave their honest opinion, without
being rude (contrary to what this seller did in his message). I don't see
why the concern to "be kind" is needed.

Is "being kind" the same as "not giving an honest answer"? As
long as the answers are not rude (which is the point of almost all replies),
I don't see a need for anyone to respond in a different way.

Being kind is so over rated. It is usually more fun to not be kind. But we
say things like that all the time. "It is better to give than receive."
No, it is so much better to get things. "Hey, do you want a piece of my
cake?" No, I want all of it. "Seventy-five is not that old." Yes
it is, I will never see a young woman without clothes for the rest of my life.
But I do not fear life in prison any more. Not much of a deterrent to a seventy-five
year old.

Oh - I see plenty in my souvenirs and dreams; that's very fine for me!

And technically, I'm sure it's still possible
Hoping that won't stop anyway.

Higher than expected shipping cost is a valid reason to cancel an order. You
don't have to allow the cancellation but I think most sellers on BL would.
Given that, I think the message you sent to the buyer was unnecessary, as was
the retaliatory negative feedback you left.
