So...I have a real silly question. Our local post office picks up mail several
times a day from a local business where we drop off our mail. Does it matter
whether we make the morning or afternoon pick up? In other words, do you know
whether the post office sends out all daily collected mail one time in the evening
or whether the early pick up makes a difference? Sometimes I feel like Tom Hanks
in the opening scene of Castaway where we are trying to get one more package
on the plane as the seconds count down.

I think it depends on the post office. Ours used to have 2 cut off times, but
now there's just one. Maybe try meeting up with the postal worker who is
picking up what you dropped off and ask them?

I work in a North Carolina post office, and our pick-ups are approx 6:00am 1:30pm
and 5:30pm. Anything after sits until the next morning when the initial delivery
is made at 6am again. Times vary between post offices, but I would say 6pm pick-up
would be the latest for most. We strive to get every piece out by the last pick-up....
at our place at least.

Thanks for the help. Are you saying that your packages leave at those times,
or do you collect 3 times a day, but don't send out the trucks to ship them
out until the evening?

You could try tracking the packages on usps.com to see

Been a while since I've sold and shipped LEGO but I've sold other stuff
on that famous auction site. My local post office closes at noon as it's
a rural area serving about 1,000 people so they are rarely busy even during the
short 4 hours they are open.

Unless someone paid for an overnight fast service, any packages not paid before
11 am will go out the next business day.

I drop all my packages at our main post office and they close at 6pm M-F, 3pm
on Sat. So all mail leaves the post office after 6 pm or so the postmaster told
me . All mail collected goes out once. day ( except during the holidays when
they have more going out, then they have multiple pickups). In my area, it's
once a day and to be honest, as long as your package is postmarked for the right
day, it shouldn't matter when it is mailed, unless it is after the time the
post office sends it out. I would chat with your local postmaster and ask.

For what it's worth, our office works the same way. They collect packages
throughout the day and send out everything that is received by late afternoon
that evening.
