It can look nice but cash makes life much more difficult plus when I buy almost
exclusively online I don’t have much of a chance to use cash

After posting, I realized/thought that maybe “Don’t you have enough LEGO already?”
would be more idiomatic… but it’s too many words!

Oh, the Brit version of Des Chiffres et des Lettres… the show you (are
forced to) watch when you call on grandma

Also, I heard that Queen Victoria said “ain’t” regularly (more precisely, “I
ain’t”).  If saying “des z-haricots” is valid in French because one (English)
Queen made the (faulty) liaison once, “ain’t” can well be added to the English
dictionary

I’ve watched Countdown way too often and haven’t ain’t in the dictionary

Oh, the Brit version of Des Chiffres et des Lettres… the show you (are
forced to) watch when you call on grandma

This is so true. I have such fond memories of it always being on the TV in the
afternoon when I stayed at my Grandmothers house (to be fair, there was only
4 TV channels).
I’m rubbish with the letters, fair much better with the numbers.

Also, I heard that Queen Victoria said “ain’t” regularly (more precisely, “I
ain’t”).  If saying “des z-haricots” is valid in French because one (English)
Queen made the (faulty) liaison once, “ain’t” can well be added to the English
dictionary

Ain’t should definitely be in the dictionary, I use it all the time

This is so true. I have such fond memories of it always being on the TV in the

4 TV channels).

It started in 1965 here, at the start of the second TV channel (our 3rd channel
came in 1975, 4th (first private) in 1984…).
It was 7 letters (like Scrabble… but sush, it’s a totally different game ),
then it went to 8, then 9 and now 10.  Numbers were added after a few years.

I’m rubbish with the letters, fair much better with the numbers.

Yeah, letters seems to be just memory but, even with a good vocabulary, it’s
not easy.  Rearranging letters is an acquired skill.
Numbers is more algorithmical.  Seems easier for AFOL minds

There’s a simple solution to counter people arguing it shouldn’t: talk to them
until they use it themselves.
Works like a charm for “ben” (alteration of “bien,” well) or “ouais” (yeah) in
French

You have enough LEGO already.

The statement is worse than the question. You can at least reply 'No'
to the question.

Ouch, I don’t like that one or the alternative “you already have enough LEGO”
Luckily I’m yet to hear either

Try this shortcut on your Browser: ALT+F4

It'll simplify our communication problems!

It’s the shortcut to close the current window or current application on Windows

It is not just you! We had our sails in a clothing gift box, packed this way
when we moved to our new home in 2014. We finally found them in December of 2022
packed in the same box with some old VHS movies in our basement. All the string
and masts were in that clothing box as well.

Nice.

My inventory checklist simply said in book, not which book.

Thought it would be a good way to flatten them out. I have a library.

week. Half a dozen postage marks on it. Mini still intact.

Fun!

We had a padded envelope shipped us back from South Korea (also!)

It arrived... 18 months (1 year and a half) after shipping.
Yes, yes and in almost perfect condition, full of stickers also

And as of yesterday, I refunded another buyer in South Korea.

The tracking shows it's gone to South... Africa.
No kidding!
I guess Postal OCR gone wild?

This order will probably take also quite some time to arrive to the buyer, or
us, or more probably disappear from the surface of the Planet.

Weird things happen...

Post office guy said that Addresses in South Korea don't line up with Addresses
in most of the world. House, Street, Province/District, Country, Postal Code.
South Koreans put country and district nearer the beginning and apt # near the
end, usually. But in his experience things shipped within country in South Korea
don't even include most parts of the address. Maybe Bricklink could label
address lines for everyone to get it in the right order?

Not sure that article helps a lot

I like the last line though
"It should also be noted that there is no official convention for South
Korean addresses written in the Latin alphabet, and addresses are written in
many ways. Mail carriers, however, are trained to interpret various formats,
and should have little trouble delivering mail, especially if the postal code
is included."

If their mailcarriers are as good as ours I'm sure there is
"little trouble". My last lego purchase was delivered to a neighbour
down the street. Luckliy she knew where the Lego belonged. and yes it had the
right address on it...

No, but it gives a reference

It’s like when I attach the pic below about “Europe”: it’s to say that if you
don’t understand, it’s not because you’re lacking, it’s because “it’s complicated.”

I *always* rewrite their address which is the more often "inverted".

Normally it should be labelled from the "smallest" (the person) to the
"biggest" (the country).

So, in general:

Person
Stair, Floor
Street address
City & zip (or the opposite)
County or such
Country

Somone (sasa) made us a South Korean translation to explain those buyers how
to properly format it, in case we can't do it.
