| Do sellers really think that it's ok to list an undamaged part or figure
in "new" condition? I keep seeing stores that have descriptions of their
"new" figures as "mint" or "great condition" and then
95% of their used figures have damage that has to be noted like:
"FIGURE IS GREAT CONDITION!, except the torso is cracked and there are scratches."
I've sold thousands of used minifigures and probably 10% of them have had
damage that's required adding a description. Are these the unluckiest resellers
in the world or perhaps there's something fishy about all of their "new"
figs...

agreed. on more then 1 occasion I have bought a new item and gotten clearly used
stuff and I wish there was a way on the order report that so bricklink can see
this store has gotten X amount of complaints that they have sold used as new
and take action where needed.

I thought that's what negative feedback was for, but lo and behold there
are a handful of stores with tons of negatives regarding this exact issue and
nothing has been done...
|
yup and also with that sellers can also leave negative in retaliation (yes doesn't
affect the buyer but still not good)

| This is a great idea... anonymous feedback that BL could aggregate and raise
a flag if a seller receives above a certain percentage of "used as new"
or "non-lego" hidden complaints. Buyers are too afraid of getting retaliation
feedback (even though it really doesn't hurt them) to complain in the feedback
tool. In my opinion though, this goes beyond "feedback" and into the
realm of fraud if you sell used as new.
It really is hurting the Bricklink platform...

Anonymous feedback can be abused. If one seller wants to put another out of business,
then they can place small orders, leaving positive feedback and negative anonymous
complaints.

Presumably there would be checks for such as accounts with x about of feedback
and became inactive after feedback arnt considered the same and those that are
active accounts who reported it

| I say anonymous to the seller, but obviously bricklink would have the data. It
would not be hard to filter out this type of activity and in fact would be a
big risk to a seller trying to do this and would probably lead to them getting
kicked off the platform. Why would they risk that?

Least favourite the store. And report them if the ones listed as new sound like

Is it possible that the new seller isn't checking the used button because
they forget?

A seller has the option of setting his or her default to "Used" when
listing individual items. That's what I've done since 95% of the time
if I'm listing an individual item (as opposed to parting out a set) it's
used.

What about that
Yesterday i came across the following item description listed as new 'from
collector'. The store has 1000+ feedbacks history with more than 99% positive
Some sellers cant imagine that VGC or 'as new' does not mean new

Gees, I feel like a choir boy then considering how much I can overshare about
some used pieces. https://store.bricklink.com/Yellow.Brick?p=Yellow.Brick&itemID=337018738#/shop
And believe it or not, someone bought one of my classic red ones that was super
chewed on over the one that was mint. I guess they needed a damaged one for
some perverse macabre reason.
I always err on the side of caution. It's only new if I personally take
it out of the box and part it out.

| Great policy and I do the same. If I don’t open it myself, it isn’t new. I would
definitely never repost something as new that I bought on Bricklink as “new”.
Too many shady sellers.

I especially liked the comment for the listed fig, "Was nibbled on by dog
about 30 years ago so there are three tooth marks" - very honest and up front.
That made me want to buy it just so I could see 30 year old dog teeth marks .
By the way, how do you know the dog chewed it 30 years ago??

BECAUSE IT WAS MY DOG! LOL!
I had a Schnauzer named Fritz that absolutely loved chewing on LEGO. I don't
know what his problem was but he was especially obsessed with the Astronauts
more than the castle knights. I don't get it. But yea, I pulled them out
