Ever since BL started applying the taxes to US orders I haven't been ably
to send a invoice. So I send the invoice through PayPal and when I receive the
payment, I manually mark the order paid.

But now I can't do that, the "paid" doesn't show up! The same
as I can't mark the order shipped so I can't do my drive through and
be able to fill the order.

Any help thanks. Kathleen Onebrick@atime

isn't that tax fraud if it goes to a state that bricklink needs to collect
sales tax?

if I remember correctly that was done intentionally to avoid what i mentioned
above

Do you still have those gastric refluxes?

Not anymore. Ever since I stopped eating pizza, I haven't had any issues.

Though, to be fair, dijon mustard isn't much better… Too much vinegar.

Is there still a mustard shortage in France? Is your commune still on fire?

See how it's bad!

Though, to be fair, dijon mustard isn't much better… Too much vinegar.

Here it has taste and strength, no vinegar, only a bunch of taste and strength.

Is there still a mustard shortage in France?

Less, but still...

Is your commune still on fire?

No. But we've got already a month without any rain in February. Water reserves
are under what they should be. Gov announced on news to start to save water (during
winter)! It doesn't sound good for the summer to come

Are you still getting internal server errors?

Yes I still get the error page, I have contacted BL help and have been issued
a ticket. Their answer is that I am trying to avoid paying taxes, and if it continues
my store will be suspended indefinitely. I'm 67 yrs and not PC savvy unfortunaly,
I have been going over YouTube video's and nothing is said about the sending
of a invoice where taxes are applied.

To make myself a little more clearer, I don't have self check-out and I was
always able to send a invoice to a US buyer until the taxes came into affect.
The page I get states “The page cannot be displayed because an internal server
error has occurred”

Also Just to let anyone know I CAN send a invoice to the US when there are no
taxes a few are out there (or at least they were) I haven't see any lately.

Any help/advice thanks. Kathleen Onebrick@atime

You're not alone - many much bigger stores have this issue too.

When I check your payment methods, I see something about no international for
PayPal Onsite outside of Canada. Does that include USA? I'm not even sure
how to make that differentiation in the settings, unless it's something during
the PayPal integration setup.

First step is remove your two regular PayPal options (the non-onsite ones). I'd
remove it from Canada as well. We will eventually have marketplace tax and it'll
save you the headache later on (most use onsite anyways). We also won't be
able to accept Interac E-transfer for the same reason.

What I'm suspecting is that the invoices you attempted to do had the regular
PayPal (not onsite) as the Payment method and was throwing an error as it must
be PayPal Onsite for tax collection. When you remove the two old PayPal options
from your payment options, this should help avoid it from defaulting incorrectly.

After that, you should be able to invoice normally. Ensure that they do not send
you payment directly outside of the PayPal Onsite. They need to use the Pay button
from their order page after you've successfully issued the invoice. This
means when the payment comes in, PayPal will automatically strip the tax portion
from it and send directly to BL without you needing to do anything

Thank you for the reply, I posted the note about not being able to ship to the
US today. I am afraid I will get a US order and not able to invoice 😔 I will
take your advice and try since I don't think it will hurt, and might even
work. I have received a new message from the BL help team which I will post below.
I think I will also set my settings for shipping as BL has asked me to do as
it won't hurt either. Thank you again......Kathleen, Onebrick@atime

  From the BL team

Hello Kathleen,

You would have to go into your store settings shipping manual change the
shipping to international and input the desired shipping prices, insurance, tracking,
weight, etc. to your desire.

Once this is completed, US buyers should be able to see the "Pay" button
on the order page once the order is invoiced.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Ray

Don't be afraid to ask for folks to test out your shipping methods Sadly
I cannot test for you as I'm in Canada, but I'm certain some others would
happily put in a test order that you can cancel via OCR after (since you need
to test the actual invoicing part).

Do you have a custom invoice? There may be something wrong with it that is causing
this error and preventing its being sent. I've never tried to customize my
invoice and I can send one with no problem.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but was thinking about this questions
and thought to check out the forum, finally. LOL

I've had this issue as well, with International orders - and I know it's
because VAT is being collected, and this does make perfect sense to me - but,
BrickLink needs to have a set-up where the buyer can put in their tax Exempt
cert so that they can be approved to NOT pay taxes (which is what most big on-line
retailers will do for you through their customer service - if they choose to
support this - I've actually been told in the past by a huge company that
they won't do it on-line, if I want to do that I have to go into the store
and not buy from them on-line). (I have no idea if VAT is something that can
be tax exempt like we can with individual states and reseller certs in the U.S.).

VAT-registered businesses can buy from VAT-registered businesses with a 0% VAT.
(Provided buyer and seller are in the same “VAT-area” or country.  That is, both
in EU, or both in UK, but not one in UK and one in EU.)

It’s an “exemption” in practice but not in name.  It’s a way of handling VAT
because when you’re VAT-registered, the VAT you pay is deductible, so it’s a
mechanism to neither pay it nor deduct it.

I think it’s workable on BrickLink (because BL doesn’t collect VAT inside the
VAT-areas; the BL VAT mechanism is just a way to show and compute prices).

As for importations (which is the only moment BrickLink has to and does collect
VAT), a VAT-registered business can choose whether they are treated as a “normal”
buyer, by paying VAT (that, contrarily to normal buyers, they’ll be able to deduct
afterward) or not pay VAT through the marketplace and declare and pay it on their
own.

And, for information and comparison, BrickLink has already implemented that:
BL VAT-registered sellers have the option to “remove” import VAT at checkout.
