| Hi BLers,
Came across this description in a sellers shop:
'Great condition Taken from set and displayed since'
Is this still new or used ?
Im not interested in the figure nor the store but wanted other opinions.
I guess its not played with as such but is displayed equal to used ?

The important thing is whether bricklink views them as used or new. I reported
a seller with many minifigures listed as new that were described as "displayed"
in the past and they were all rejected. Rather than the seller being dealt with,
I got sent an email saying ... While these are a problem, they are borderline
when it comes to our current levels of enforcement.
So I haven't bothered reporting sellers that do it since then. Instead I
least favourite the store with a comment to remind me that they sell used figures
as new. If BL don't care to do anything about them if reported, then the
best anyone else can do is make sure that they don't buy from the seller
thinking that they are new.

| There are also other phrases to look out for such as "adult owner", "excellent/great/good
condition", "no cracks/scratches", etc. Why would any of these phrases
need to be routinely used if the figure was new?

yes used as it has been put together, not ever a new piece after that

It is used.

I don't think caring or not has any relevance to this issue. The rules for
minifigures have been in place for a long time allowing them to be assembled
but still New. Lego does assemble minifigs in some sets. It would also be incredibly
unfair for BrickLink to just declare all assembled minifigs as Used since it
would devalue the stock of many sellers who were simply following the rules as
stated.
There is a fine line between: 'Assembled, displayed in my shop waiting to
be purchased.' and 'Assembled, displayed in my livingroom, and now waiting
to be purchased.' I don't blame BrickLink for not wanting to jump on
that grenade.
Are there sellers abusing this? Yes. Are there sellers who routinely sell used
stuff as New because it looks pretty good? Yes. As a buyer, you can just assume
displayed means Used and move on.
