Hello,

I purchased a small set long retired, paid 150 euro for it. It was shipped to
me from the other side of Europe. However it was posted in a thick envelope which
was mangled when I got it. However the set came out OK, luckily. And I think
it was a miracle it did.

Now, I think this set should have been packaged way more carefully as it was
very expensive for such a small set. So am not sure about the feedback I should
give. I was contemplating negative feedback, but that's probably too harsh.
Neutral feedback maybe? Definitely not positive feedback. Or led it slide and
don't give feedback at all?

I gave the seller feedback via email. But I think they were careless posting
it like they did.

What say you?

I would be fair and honest. We rely on that in this market forum. Neutral is
probably fair. For example, "Arrived as described but poorly packaged.
Next time I buy insurance." Best of luck.

I would let it slide. The seller kept up his or her end of the bargain - you
got the set in good shape. The envelope could have been mangled because of something
that went wrong in processing - you have no way of knowing whether it went through
ordinary processing or not.

Neutral would be fair. Might even get them to use common sense in the future
to ship properly instead of relying on getting lucky with an envelope.

  What say you?

Praise: "Expensive Set in bubble envelope, but arrived perfect, unbelievable!"

What do you simply bother?

Forget the feedback, put the shop in Least Favorites and move on; there's
plenty of other concerns.

Otherwise do as you think.

Send an email to the seller with your packaging concerns. Emphasize that the
seller got lucky this time.

Feedback- if it's a new seller, leave no fb as they may still be learning.
If it's an experienced seller leave a positive but mention the packaging
in your comment.

Luck aside, the seller fulfilled their obligation, which was to get the set to
you in the condition described.

I've run into this plenty of times (especially on eBay). I always just leave
a positive with cautionary text.

Ask yourself as a seller, would you be annoyed with a buyer leaving the feedback
you are contemplating leaving if it is not based on what did happen but based
on what they thought could have happened.

If you want to give them advice on what you think could have happened then email
them privately and leave it at that. They can then either change their ways or
ignore you. But if they got the set you ordered to you in decent condition then
I wouldn't publicly speculate that it could have got damaged as it wasn't
damaged.

The same is true the other way around. If a seller puts something in a box and
it gets crushed, should the buyer leave positive feedback and accept that it
is not the sellers fault when they deny a refund as as it should have got there
OK but didn't.

Send a message to the seller about your concerns and see what reply you get.
How they respond may help make that decision easy for you especially if they
show lack of interest over your concerns!

One thing I will say though whilst you should expect a seller to pack an expensive
set carefully, never assume all sellers are thinking the same way as yourself
therefore its probably best to tell the seller that the outer box condition is
very important to you that way it puts the onus on the seller to ensure its packed
accordingly!

Do you have pics of how the envelope got mangled? Please also post pics of the
set's box.

What was the set number?

Sometimes packaging can get damaged in transit. Proper packaging should not get
damaged, but it sounds in this case like the seller picked the wrong package
for the set.

Cheers ...

I say that there is never an excuse to ship a boxed set in anything but a box.
End of story.
