| Check out this amazing site!
340,580 Parts and 3,733 Sets in 99 Open Shops Available ...
https://www.bricklink.com/archive/history/BB112000.htm
So, who is still alive from this snapshot from plus two decades ago?
(At a quick glance I only spotted Troy and bricks4you)
Oddly enough some links do actually still work!
The legacy of Daniel's coding reaches NASA levels at this point

| Lol, so cool. A lot of names had to be changed to remove the word LEGO. I now
I wasn't there yet.

I'm still here (kinda). And I'm one of those people Darren mentioned
who had to remove "LEGO" from the name. Yikes, this reminder that it's
been that long reminds me of my perfect answer for ImperialFleet's post.

And so is Dan Jezek's original Brickbay shop, Dan's Parts Fodder as user
Level88.
I see even Eric Smith had a shop in the Brickbay days, I suppose mostly to test
that everything was working properly.
Here is the list of the oldest BL members who are still active. The list of
members by registration number got shuffled due to a massive server failure.
It looks like that happened on Dec 18, 2000. When the list was re-generated
it became alphabetical rather than purely by date of registration.
https://www.bricklink.com/memberList.asp?v=1
Being that Milissa's MMillere account was registered on 01 August 2000, her
original account number would likely have been between 75 and 100, depending
how many old accounts from that time have been deactivated.

Those were the good old days, right? Almost no images except for those imported
from LDraw by Mnementh/Sir Troy. A bare-bones catalog with tons of stuff missing
and no variants. No pictures for minifigs or most minifig parts, no set inventories,
no USED or NEW tags, no links to other companion sites like BrickSet or Peeron,
and, of course, no multiple currencies, no weight in cart, and no Auto-Checkout.
Brickbay began before Paypal existed, so most payments were made thru the mail
as cash, checks, money orders, Western Union money transfers, or direct bank
transfers meaning sellers had to wait days or weeks for payments to arrive and
then buyers had to wait more time for those payments to clear before their orders
were even shipped out. A fast transaction from Order Placement to Invoiced to
Paid to Shipped to Received was one that only took 7 to 10 days.
There were a lot fewer sellers then, but there were also far fewer buyers, too.
Pretty much all of the original sellers were serious Lego builders (DUH! that's
why BrickBay was created) and sellers often did a lot of buying, too. So much
of the same Brickbay money was recirculated over and over from one seller to
the next and so on and on back in those days.
Auczilla is gone. The Serious Collector is gone. AuctionBrick is gone. But
BrickBay survives and hopefully will be around for another 22 years.
A huge shout out to Dan Jezek for his vision and his desire and his skill in
making BrickBay. And to Eric Smith who worked hard to keep the whole thing online
and running. And to the long line of past and present Admins who have given
years of their lives to making BrickLink Better. And also to all of the other
users who have volunteered all kinds of catalog and inventory improvements that
benefit all BL users.

I missed that listing by a few months, as I registered in July, 2000. I'm
23rd in seniority on the list shared by Shiny_Stuff. I've seen a lot of
people come and go. The forum has a lot less drama these days.
