Has anyone recently purchased or sold a store? Assuming that you would base
your asking price on the potential earnings of the merchandise, and overhead
if that's included in the transaction. In your opinion, what is a reasonable
asking price for a store owner?
Thanks,

Matt

from what I've heard the normal price is 30ish% of the 6-months average price
of the entire store

I’m assuming you just mean the stock, I’ve heard 30% - 40% of 6 months average.

You probably already know that you cannot sell the feedback rating attached to
the store.

Just in case someone doesn't know, the account cannot be sold with the store.
Only the inventory can be sold, the account has to remain with you. You can
change the store name and let someone else claim the original store name.

It's actually quite difficult to sell a large amount of (BL)LEGO at once

Say, you have a few of hundred pounds of _sorted_ LEGO parts and a hundred sets

How would would you ship that?

It would be very expensive!

Best to find a local BL shop that can xome pick up the stuff

I've purchased my first store earlier this month, and we're indeed in
the 30-40% range based on the 6MSA. In my case I also took the storage containers
and drawer units with it, bringing the total price closer to 40%.
I'm based in the Netherlands, and needed to drive about an hour to collect
everything. Compared to the US, that's probably not far at all, but shipping
a pallet could be cheaper than driving across states of course.

Hope this helps!

Instead of selling the entire store at once, consider progressively discounting
your inventory, maybe start with 10% or 20% off and increasing from there. That
way you don't have to wait for that one buyer to show up. If you get too
many orders because of the discounting you can close the store until you catch
up. You can then list a bulk lot on feebay with whatever is left at the end.

With the small amount of inventory you have, it may be best to discount your
parts 10, 20, or 30% and try to move as much as you can that way. It may end
up being a bit more work shipping the orders, but then at least you get more
$$ for your stuff.
