I just found some interesting things in a lot of mixed bricks: Instructions and
a decent amount of parts from set 4025 (including the figures, hose, hulls and
keels), one white reel holder and two drums & nozzle strings. The reel holder
has no part number molded onto it, so the age is consistent with this set.

But the strings are fused onto the reel. Both parts have a consistent look and
don't look home made. That makes me believe that early version of

Part No: 4208c01 Name: String Reel 2 x 4 x 2 Drum with Black String 35L with Light Gray Hose Nozzle Simple (4208 / 194cx2)
*
4208c01 (Inv) String Reel 2 x 4 x 2 Drum with Black String 35L with Light Gray Hose Nozzle Simple (4208 / 194cx2)
Parts: String Reel / Winch
were actually fused together.

Here are some images. The details are hard to capture but notice the bulge on
the drum cylinder by the hole.

Should

1) that part be updated with a note
2) a new fused-together part be made

?

Hi Jan,

Thanks for spotting this. It was determined that the fused together version is
a legitimate variant and your submission was approved.

Thanks. Would an inventory request for set 4025 be accepted based on my findings
mentioned above?

I have one here from set 6385 with the fused string (never mixed with other sets)

Set No: 6385 Name: Fire House-I
*
6385-1 (Inv) Fire House-I
384 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1985
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Fire

That's from 1985 which is newer than your 4025 set.

Set No: 4025 Name: Fire Boat
*
4025-1 (Inv) Fire Boat
138 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1982
Sets: Boat: Fire

But to complicate matters the one in 6385 is in the set as part of an assembly.

  Thanks. Would an inventory request for set 4025 be accepted based on my findings

Please submit a request so I don't forget about it and we'll take it
from there

Not forgotten, I was awaiting approval of the new assembly counterpart which
was in limbo for months and just recently approved.

Request has been made.
