It is worth what someone will pay for it. It is one of those objects that the
value is in the rarity of the packaging rather than the contents.

how much would you buy it for?

For personal use, nothing.

After their first post broke rule-keeping, I was expecting a collective steamroller

There are good reasons to crack down, but seeing your excitement for their passion

It's refreshing and still surprising how kind you all can be!

Absolutely, and hats off to Admin Russell in the comments section.

Though I resent him and the BrickLink team's role in making the French polymath

I would be more interested in what you thought it was worth and what you paid
for it.
But, I think, this is something you don’t want to share and that is a shame.
I like the Antique Roadshow or in Dutch Kunst en Kitsch stories of how much some
people paid for an item and what it is worth.
So, tell us you succes story and tell us what you paid for it.

Nice one!!! Some collectors would probably pay and arm and a leg for it so if
you ever wanted to get top dollar for it it would be best to go thru a major
auction company who would hype it up a lot before the end of the auction and
when that happens how much it’s worth is something that’s impossible to guess

Can you post more photos of the box? It doesn't seem like there is 25 sets
in there.

As far as value, I would part the set out and sell the 25 set separately!

Joking. Whatever the value is image if it was a Star Wars set, the value would
be 100x more.

Yes, it would probably be a decent new car value or similar if SW, with many
collectors after it. Being Chima, the pool of interested parties is much smaller.
It doesn't even have the claim to fame of being the boxed set with the most
pieces any more. Still, it has got its rarity.

I remember that contest... I would buy it but it's probably out of my budget
lol. There were like five if I'm not mistaken so the fact you managed to
get one is incredible.

A production run of 2. The question is would just making just 1 still count as
a run?

So if you open this big box—do a lot of little boxed sets come out? Are are
these small boxed sets available to everyone to buy? If so then the value is
in the cardboard box then-right? I didn’t know anyone collected Chima

Seems the OP just bought the empty box for 25$ as it says and shows in another

we can't know how the other sets came inside.

Good find. So it is not actually the prize as it was won, but the empty box with
the same sets put inside.

Still, at $25 the box is probably good value for such a rare item. Although what
do you do with a box that big? I know you can display it but that is like the
size of a large TV but deeper. You've really got to enjoy Chima to want that
on display. Or stick it in the attic knowing you have something in the attic
that few others have (or want!)

It is truly a monstrous box. In that photo it is standing on the floor, not a

It is truly a monstrous box. In that photo it is standing on the floor, not a
table.

Maybe a good opportunity to add the weight and dimensions?

You would have to run an auction. Have you contacted LEGO itself on the off chance
they might want to buy it given how rare this is?

Ok, How did you get it?

I highly doubt there was only 2 of the boxes produced. 2 sets to the public yes
but the chance of LEGO only producing 2 printed boxes is very slim.

You're probably right and LEGO might not even be interested regardless, but
if it were me I would start there.

Good point. They also may have internally gifted some, raising the possibility
that there are more than 2 in the wild. Who knows.

That is an old thread so it might have been owned by someone else at the time.
The floor looks similar though.

It depends when and how the OP got hold of it, and if the photo is theirs or
one they found.

They don't seem to be answering the question of how they got it.
