Looking for anyone who collects 3001old according to markings underneath the
bricks or the lack of.

I know Wouter does and others that collect test bricks with specific markings
but I’m looking for someone who may be interested in collecting just for the
markings.

For example there are many bricks with numbers inside the tubes, both standard
tubes and split tubes.

There are many other number and/or letter combinations, too many to mention.

A long shot I know but you can but ask.

Hmm, me not really since I already have about 100 or so varients of them. But
maybe Maxx, if you have them in orange and green they are much more sought after.

Thanks, I know Maxx quite well.

I do know what he’s interested in but thanks for the suggestion.

The interest came from conversations with Wouter regarding his study of moulds,
thought I’d join in and see if I could help his research.

I’ve been doing this on and off for a few years now, some success in finding
bricks and the odd unknown mould.

I do not actively collect them but I do keep some of the really old variants,
called Bayer bricks. I have 7 various colored 2x4 bricks with A, B, C, and D
on one or all 8 studs. IIRC those were for clutch test to determine exactly
what size stud worked the best.

There are quite a few different markings on test bricks too, I have a few myself.

I don't think that many people are taking this as far as I am 😜

Not surprised, it’s quite a task doing what you do.

Running out of ideas finding any fresh sources of “new” mould markings or missing
bricks from sequences.

Are you still looking for any production colour sequences or particular bricks
?

I used to — I sent all my different modern 3001 markings to Wouter, but I still
have my baseplate of 3001old molds for now. Not looking to expand it though

Just to show how extensive the markings are, these are just the number in tubes
versions, there are many many more.

Each number can have alternative stud hollow markings.

Trying to find at least one version of each number, some may not exist.

Number range 031 - 192 inclusive. Need 062/105/112/145/148/170

Number range 209 - 216 inclusive. Need 211/215

Number range 319 - 381 inclusive. Need 320/379

Number ( scratched in numbers ) 382 - 390 inclusive, Need 388 but it might not
exist.

Split tube version :

Complete side bars type

001 - 032 Only found red and yellow. Need 017 - 024. Yellow 025 - 032 Yellow
if they exist. Need 001 - 024 Red if they exist. Need 025 - 027, 029 - 030, 032
Red.

Incomplete side bar type

001 - 032 Only found red and yellow. Need 001 - 009, 011 - 016. 025 - 032 Yellow
if they exist. Need 001 - 024 Red if they exist. Need 028, 031 Red.

Think that’s all of them.

If you’ve made it this far and find any I need, not many will have the time or
inclination to look, I’d appreciate it.

Nerd signing off for now.

I do collect short shots, but am interested in long shots too

As so many of us 2x4 nerds, I too started with ALL the mold differences.
And although I still have many, when Wouter seriously started collecting them,
I stopped.

But, my offer to him still stands, I have many kilos of just 2x4 bricks he can
come sort through.
I am sure there are a few he doesn’t yet have.

My collection drifted of into the test bricks and it’s many variants and colors.

I tried to start with main the mold differences, but LEGO just is not consistent
enough and every brick is different...

I am sure there are a few he doesn’t yet have.

I am certain also.
But it is going to be so much work to determine "if I already have this
1968-type K 24 brick, or just a few of the other four bricks of the same type
with the same number, but from a different mold..."

One day, we will go through those bricks.

My collection drifted of into the test bricks and it’s many variants and colors.

Do you have any green 2 x 4 bricks without tubes?
Do you have any green 2 x 4 Wrexham bricks?
Verging on almost transparent.

Stuart has some beautiful Flickr pictures of amazing bricks.
I think I seen the Wrexham bricks on Maxxxs Flickr.
I do not have anything worth mentioning in comparison.
I would prefer some bricks that are more on the jelly spectrum - whatever that
means?

  So common and over-priced.

That depends on your definition of "common".
For 3001special, these are not specifically rare or valuable.
But still, they are nice bricks.

I thought you were going to sell them on another platform and not spend any of
the money here, because you were angry that you had to become a seller here before
you can "trade them for money"

Do they have any markings underneath, or anywhere else?

All packed away at the moment, not sure how many I have of the std green but
I only have one of the trans green.

Don’t know if you noticed but it has two ghost slots.

This is from one of the early slotted brick moulds where the two slots have been
filled in but left a distinct mark.

I will be selling this later this year, not ready to sort anything just yet and
have no idea what I’ll be setting the price at.

All good. If you have four standards, let me know.
I would like to outline my quadrate with them.

I am so fleeting

Stuart has some beautiful Flickr pictures of amazing bricks.
I think I seen the Wrexham bricks on Maxxxs Flickr.
I do not have anything worth mentioning in comparison.
I would prefer some bricks that are more on the jelly spectrum - whatever that
means?

Take a look at

Part No: 3001special Name: Brick 2 x 4 special (special bricks, test bricks and/or prototypes)

I have bhol04 in green but not close to transparent.

Verging on almost transparent.

Green, blue, gray and dark red

And only normal transparent, would love any other trans color in hollow.
Although I might have them in trans-yellow, but no logo, only letters like Bayers….
