| I opened the newsletter and the first headline on it was
"Canada tax"
I scrolled down and this is what it said (see image)
with a link to this page
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2555
with this being the only other mention of the canada tax thing that everyone
is waiting for...
"Canada tax
In November, Canada tax was applied to seller commission fees. We're still
talking to our tax team regarding federal and provincial taxes implementation
in the future."

| and then they say this
"To make sure we’re meeting online marketplace regulations, we’ve updated
the Seller Verification process for new sellers in the European Union. Since
January 1, we're now asking sellers for a bit more documentation when they
apply. Once we've approved an application, we'll share the documentation
with local tax authorities. Have a look at this forum post for more details."
so they are sipping margaritas on the beach casually talking about possibly implementing
the "online marketplace regulations" for Canada meanwhile they are making
sure they are up to date with all of the "online marketplace regulations"
for every other country...

I mean most stores are already collecting it so they still get it but now I'm
going to have to do a confusing year again with gst/hst remittance based off
of forecasted tax I'm going to collect this year and then if halfway thru
the year bricklink decides its finally time to collect tax its going to be more
headaches to sort everything out again

“forecasted”
You’re remitting taxes that you haven’t yet collected?

In UK self employed have to pay "forecasted" income tax based on the
previous year's income which can mean paying tax on money you haven't
earned if you have a bad year after a good year. You get it back but they use
your money!

Yes, we also have that in France, especially now that we have withholding tax.
But that’s tax you owe, not tax you collect.

That’s probably a better way of explaining it then how I did so ima delete my
other message basically in its basic form it’s like that for gst/hst collection
remission

No sellers are "eager to give the government money", and I'm certain
that's not what he's getting at either. It's because BrickLink still
doesn't have tax support built into the system for Canada like they had for
the US and EU before they had also done marketplaces taxes. And they're not
going to now because they said it'll only be when it's rolled out with
the blanket marketplace tax. Stores that had to already collect and remit GST/HST
are antsy for it simply because it means we can finally properly use instant
checkout.
