Hello all, what a great resource Bricklink is with tons of information. I'm
just getting back into Lego for about year now since my childhood. I'm almost
38. I even clicked the link about the founders & his passing. Read about him
and the websites founding after finding Bricklink jumping off eBay to get the
stuff I want. That was unfortunate, but what an accomplishment Daniel Jezek made.
True passion.

While I say its great for information, buying hasn't been the best for me.
2 of my 5 purchases (past two in fact) have had what I would consider a fundamental
problem I can't work with this much longer as a collector/buyer compared
to my eBay experience buying or ole' fashion person to person face to face
transactions. I've only been here a mouth attempting to track down some items
and Minifigs I want from my absences from Lego and it has become a back & forth
and in the end I don't get what I wanted to buy and sellers issuing refunds
or PalPay refunding it back after that process.

col061. Two time I have purchased this listed as NEW. Once for 17.xx and next
time for 27.xx. With shipping, fees around 50 dollars. Both times, the head has
been wrong. Something close to panic/worry expression, but not the correct one
according to information here and elsewhere. First time the minifig was even
in clearly USED condition even listed as NEW.

These sellers I've dealt with at minimal aren't verifying the inventory
fully inputting it or before sending it off. I get it, there are a lot of parts
and facial expressions, even many similar expressions. But in the end it has
to be correct to be listed and/or priced as NEW and being correct.

First seller admitted it was the wrong head, then next day sent a message saying
I was scamming, he was reporting me to Bricklink and PayPal. I was puzzled, file
grievance to Bricklink and PayPal refunded me my money after that process. During
that process and being called a scammer, plus to show good faith I genuinely
wanted col061 and wasn't happy with original purchase, I purchased another
NEW listing for even more money thinking I'd get what I paid for and wanted
the second time around... and nope. Same exact problem and now right back in
the same process with this second seller not having the correct head. I guess
their reasoning is its close enough and period (ear) correct so I could be happy.

So is that the game here? Do I give up and just buy heads now until I get the
correct one in new condition? Also no one uploads pictures of the Minifigs. Its
all the same stock database photo. That's a big issue for me I see. If each
seller had actual quality pictures of their listing I would have been able to
tell that it wasn't correct head and moved on. This isn't win win situation
where seller makes money and I get what I entered the market for, this is a lose
lose situation.

Also Bricklink in my opinion doesn't take this problem seriously. Just the
sorry that happened to you, PayPal will fix it. (hopefully) can kicked down road!
Buck passed. I hope that isn't the case.

But I refuse to accept when buying collectables and it isn't correct that
I'm being picky.

You could just buy this to add to your minifigures that you already bought:

Part No: 3626bpb0548 Name: Minifigure, Head Black Eyebrows, White Pupils, Wrinkles, Scared Look, Open Mouth with Teeth Pattern - Blocked Open Stud
*
3626bpb0548 Minifigure, Head Black Eyebrows, White Pupils, Wrinkles, Scared Look, Open Mouth with Teeth Pattern - Blocked Open Stud
Parts: Minifigure, Head {Yellow}

I’m sorry that you’ve had these problems, but I can assure you these problems
don’t happen often. I’ve bought upwards of 20 orders and they all were great!

Thanks.

First three were fantastic, but I also spent less to test the waters. Again the
head (facial expression) I got was very close to looking correct so I see how
it slipped by someone. But two in a row is odd and I feed is a mark or potential
quality control of sellers inventory. Also I just feel like I'll have to
just buy two or three heads with your suggestion, maybe more in order to get
something that's either correct or actually in NEW condition.

Also its unfortunate with that expectation from sellers I'll need the "more
money then sense" strategy if I really want it then if the solution is just
buy heads to make up for the sellers lack of verification. Its just odd because
180ish (buying and selling) transactions on eBay not one problem or mix up. Here
its been 40% failure rate buying. Evidently you have to be vetted to sell here.
But seems all that didn't help me. Prices and items overall can be much better
then eBay, but I'm looking for quality and correct examples. Not to be making
orders that come not correct then that process then more orders to support the
orders that were wrong.

Not sure who you are buying from but if you are bargain hunting you probably
get what you pay for.

Some variants just cause issues, just message a seller beforehand and ask them
to verify the variant (or in the note with the order). But no need to send a
novel about it. Just please verify part is XYZ not ZYX.

Strange post.

First this isn't a variant issue, it is correct or not. I mean if we have
to start sending messages to sellers to ask if all the new parts in a new minifigure
are correct then why even buy new?

Second, he told us exactly what he spent on the figure $17 and $27, so not really
bargain hunting.

Finally, when you say something like "Not sure who you are buying from but
if you are bargain hunting you probably get what you pay for." are you really
trying to tell people that this issue of wrong parts is on the buyer? That is
huge steaming pile and makes me angry to see.

And to the OP, sorry man, some sellers here are excellent. I'd say the majority
are but a handful also don't really care too much. I have found that success
rate here is better than most other platforms due to this being more of an enthusiast
place to shop. Since this is a marketplace do yourself a favor and check the
feedback left BY sellers as well, this will indicate how they handle issues and
give you an idea if they are a bit crazy or not.

In the end there is no reason why a used figure should ever be sold as new, some
people honestly have no ethics. Usually you can flush out those sellers by their
feedback, sometimes you just have to look close.

Good advice, will use going forward. Might be worth going back and forth beforehand
to verify something if unsure or item is older. I just feel seller should be
verifying what they have before they hit post or list from their ends. I do it
with my own inventory here verifying what I have or get is correct.

Also I don't feel the pricing I'm buying this figure at is low-end money
with high-end expectations. Heck, is it even col061 if it has the wrong head?
Or NEW if stuff has been swapped? In fact I already owned this minifig back in
Nov, but I damaged it photographing it with glow-stick chemicals. My fault. Past
colleting I like photographing them too. Sadly I didn't consider the chemicals
being exothermic as well having solvents and the minifig was damaged. Same price
point but from eBay it was brand new. Here two times in a row buying off the
pricing guild or going over it and I still doing get the correct minifig.

So is 40 dollars range where you get the correct parts and/or new condition col061?
Mid 30s price I can still expect a mix and match stuff from sellers? If so that's
unfortunate because I purchased the forth most expensive one. Other 3 being way
over market value.

I just didn't expect eBay to spoil me with great quality fair priced minifigs
over this market place. I expected more being this market place revolves around
Lego. About a 40/60 split of eBay, I do more buying and not one problem getting
correct minifig both in parts and condition. Here two of five have been unusable
to my collection.

If someone is selling genuinely new (as in not used) figures I cannot really
understand how they mix up heads. You open a packet. You bag what came out of
the packet. You seal the bag. How does the wrong head get in there?
