I found my way to the feedback removal page. It seems like my situation isn't
one that qualifies for removal. Just read another thread that noted feedback
removals are no longer actively monitored like in the past. Now I worry that
my request has fallen into that dark hole where nothing happens and no one hears
back from.

I thought about contacting the buyer, but clearly someone with that kind of vengeful
attitude isn't going to be understanding in the slightest, especially after
I was so polite and helpful, even offering advice, during our exchange. The
buyer is new to BL so may not even be aware of how things work here. I'm
really not sure how to handle this situation but it is definitely frustrating.

I'd say ignore it and move on. Think from the buyer's perspective. They're
trying to get a set their son really wants, they find a store that sells it for
a good deal, places an order, then gets their order cancelled only because they're
new to the site. Gotta be quite frustrating and leaves a bad taste of bricklink
in their mouth.

Go to store settings management seller protection. If you check that box,
new users must use instant checkout to place an order. Since you have no IC methods
setup for your store, new users won't be able to place orders to begin with.

I strongly suggest that you enable that option as cancelling placed orders isn't
a good business practice.

I received my first negative feedback after I cancelled an order. My terms of
service clearly state that I do not accept orders from zero or negative feedback.
I cancelled the order shortly after it was placed and cited the reason. No
shipping quote was ever provided, no invoice sent, and no money was paid.

I have experienced two losses as a result of fraud from new buyers hence this
decision. The buyer was placing an order for a set that was almost $300. I wrote
a polite response to explain. She then wrote me another message pleading with
me to sell her this set because her son wanted it really badly.

I wrote back her explaining why I stated this in my terms, provided suggestions
on the quickest and least expensive way to gain feedback, and even pointed out
that the set was available from another seller for the same price. I mentioned
that I was once a new buyer here as well so I understood. I was polite and thoughtful
in my messages to her. She did not respond to the second message.

I then see that the seller posted a negative feedback saying I would not sell
to her because she had no feedback. How is it that someone can post negative
feedback when a sale didn't actually take place? Is it fair to allow negative
feedback because someone failed to read the Terms set forth by the seller? If
so, then what is the point of setting terms in the first place? I know most
buyers fail to read them, but how do I protect myself in an instance like this?

Is it feasible to require quotes for every sale? If there is such a setting,
where would I find it?

Lastly, who do I contact here at BL to address this issue?

It wasn't a valid reason within bricklink terms to cancel an order, so you
are stuck with it.

New buyers have to buy from someone, and you cannot stop them using any bricklink
tools. You can try to do it through your own terms as you have done, but that
doesn't guarantee you will put off new customers.

If the buyer was willing to pay, I would have taken the order. They are no less
trustworthy than a buyer with 1 feedback.

It is a fair feedback. I love new users and love giving them their first feedback.
You should leave them a positive feedback since they helped you learn a valuable
lesson.

Everyone was new once, and they have to start somewhere. Offloading buyers with
zero feedback to other stores is not the answer.

You could try to reach out to the buyer, apologize and see if you can complete
the sale. A favorable buyer experience may result in the buyer removing the negative
feedback for the cancelled sale + positive feedback for the completed transaction.
Note that feedback can only be removed 30 days after it is posted.

BTW, could you stop cancelling your posts? You are making this thread worthless
as a resource tool for others.

This sounds like fair feedback to me. Not selling to a new member who wants to
spend money is ridiculous. I can see a point in not wanting buyers with LESS
than 0 feedback but a new buyer making their first purchase?
Your reasoning of no sale is off. A sale took place, the buyer did all they could
do to complete it, you cancelled for an invalid reason, Really? a store term
turning away new buyers? Who would expect such a thing?
