Tip, secure the shelving in your store,
I learned the hard way, we had a 6.4 quake and my stock went flying all over,
have store closed for cleanup. My house had a lot of broken glass but the time
consuming store clean up is wicked. I am in northern Calif , we don't have
hurricanes or tornados but it is earthquake county. Has any of you had a flood,
tornado, hurricane, or other natural disaster that affected your store? Please
share your experience

My mother lives in Napa county and she had similar issues after the 2014 Napa
earthquake. We came down to her house later that morning, and as you turned
onto her street you could hear vacuum cleaners going at practically every house
on the block cleaning up the glass, etc. After that my husband went ahead and
attached her entertainment center to the wall with brackets.

As for other disasters, I lost all of my store inventory as well as my own personal
LEGO collection in the 2020 LNU Lightning Complex fires that swept through part
of Northern California and burned down our house and everything we owned. I
haven't reopened my store since then, and at this point it is doubtful I
will accumulate enough inventory to ever reopen.

No such concern here (I'm in Chicago), but yesterday I was at my computer
doing some work when I heard a loud bang then water flowing. I thought my upstairs
neighbor was doing some heavy laundry. IN fact he was away for the holidays
was away for the holidays and he turned the heat off. It's been around -20C
here, and a water pipe bursted in his condo. I ended up with a lot of water in
my hall and guest bedroom. The light fixtures looked like aquariums, and there
was water falling inside the 'dry' wall and out the electric outlets.
A vert scary situation. I called 911 for them to shut down his main valve ...
but this to say, if you are running a 'small' business from home, never
skimp on insurance.

I was standing in the hall with my SO when our 3yo randomly decided to see what
would happen if he opened every drawer of his dresser, ten feet from us. It started
to pitch towards him, but the second drawer caught against the lowest drawer
and stopped it, Leaning Tower-style. Whole event only took two seconds. Secure
your furniture!

So I guess my slight inconvenience today of turning the envelopes upside down
to prevent the addresses from getting wet due to some rain isn’t worth mentioning?

I keep my Lego in closed plastic boxes, if they would fall down I hope they stay
closed so parts won’t be mixed up.
But then again, we do not have earthquakes like your 6,4, only some in gaswinning
areas in the north east.

I hope your Lego isn’t damaged due to glass or too mixed up!

I'd love to see a video of that.
My most harrowing experience is - I once lost a set, but I found it later packed
inside another box.
