I'm leaving town for 2 weeks, have my store closed. However, I'm trying
something, and I put a statement on the closed message, including the password.
Good/bad idea, foreseeable problems, etc, etc?

Only works for those who already know your store and want to come take a look.
Otherwise - your items are invisible from search and you will not be getting
any visitors.

What I used to do in the past is put a 999 UER minimum and have a message + password
on the splash page/terms - for those who really want to place the order and are
okay with waiting.

That's a good idea. I do see some visitors while I'm gone, but like 2/day
vs the standard 50+ or whatever it is. But your idea makes much more sense.

Yeap but as yorbrick said - the possibility of getting a complaint from someone
who could not be bothered to use their brain is always there. For that reason
I always make the password itself something like 'IcanWAITaMONTH'

Either way, you will probably be getting messages with 'can I buy for less
than 999'. It also comes with a possibility that someone will place you on
a 'bad list' because of your apparent high minimum. Not because they
don't read your terms, ofc

There is a downside to using a high store minimum. If you have the parts someone
wants and they are running a wants list search and you keep coming up, then there
is a good chance you will be least favourited due to the high minimum (if they
keep the default select even if below the store minimum when using the wants
list search), to remove you from searches so they can find other stores. And
then they don't remember to undo the action.

This is true. I used to set my minimum to $200 whenever I wanted a break so
that I wouldn't be bothered by low dollar orders, but people could still
buy pricier sets if they wanted. I noticed after the third time I did it, that
I had gained about 5 or 6 least favorites.

You should be fine, although there is always the possibility of the odd idiot
that places an order then wants it next day or wants to communicate then complains
you are slow. The downside is that you are already possibly a few weeks behind
the time if they make a paypal complaint about you being slow. But on the positive
side, only people that know your store will shop with you and you won't be
attracting random parts browsers / searchers so you will probably avoid that
type of person.
