I appear to be getting quite a few messages about not receiving orders.
How long are you asking buyers to wait?
I've had 3 today!

| Asmuch as I dislike waiting, I'd be upto five weeks before questiong it.
Experience tells me that if I question it, it will show up within afew days after
I do. It's screwy, but proven

It seems pretty mixed for mail in the UK. I posted an order to Belfast on Monday
and it was completed on Tuesday. Yet I have had an enquiry about an order posted
to London last Thursday not yet received. I have also made 3 orders myself over
a week ago and two seemed to take a week to get to me. One order was posted 2nd
class last Wednesday, still not got it.

I should also add there is a sorting office in my village and the postman told
me there are no backlogs in his sorting office. They are clearing the backlog
caused by the strikes. This is probably not replicated around the country. My
local post office is in the local garage. After last weeks strike there were
over 50 mail bags lying around the garage, so quite a backlog to clear.

I'd say something along the lines of
Sorry for the delay in delivery that is being caused by the Royal Mail strikes:
https://www.royalmail.com/latest-news
Your order was posted on XX-XX-XX and I hope that you receive it soon.
I closed today. The planned strikes next week are going to cause havoc for parcel
deliveries in the run up to Christmas. And the sort of people that leave it very
late to order a set are the sort of people that expect it to be delivered fast
and get trigger happy with feedback if you ruin their Christmas. If it is late
arriving and they want to return it, that's about £7 in postage both ways
for a parcel. Opening again on and after Christmas is far less hassle, as people
ordering then are not ordering for Christmas presents.

I'm closing also. Last 2nd class postage for Xmas has been brought forward
again. I don't really want to turn away 2 weeks worth of customers, but
experience from previous years tells me that there will be a large uptick of
buyers who are saying orders have not arrived.

A reminder that the last posting date for 2nd class for delivery before Christmas
is today. 1st class is not until Friday.

Agree completely with you.
I closed today as well. The loss of 2 weeks orders is a lot less hassle than
dealing with refunds and complaints. Re-opening on 2nd January.
Hopefully by then things may have calmed down although I'm not holding my
breath.

International is also very bad.
An order to Poland I posted a month ago arrived today.
Also about a month ago I posted orders to the USA, Netherlands and Norway. None
of those 3 orders have arrived yet

I've also had 3 today though they were all ebay buyers with low feedback
who are probably a little over anxious compared to your average more experienced
buyer.
It can be frustrating especially as one of them literally messaged me twice in
the space of an hour looking for an immediate response from me basically wanting
a yes/no guarantee whether it will arrive by Saturday so they know whether they
need to order another from Amazon instead? Had they of discussed their urgent
(Secret Santa) needs prior to ordering and shipping their goods I would have
suggested they go with Amazon or upgrade from my free shipping service to
a tracked service but instead it feels like all the onus is on me which is fine
under normal circumstances but less so when strike announcements are all over
the news!
I know that if some of my own Xmas gifts arrive late I will be accepting and
sharing some of that responsibility rather than applying all the unfair pressure
on sellers.
I think 10-14 days would seem a reasonable waiting time at the moment and although
some items may take even longer to arrive its probably fair to say that it may
be a little too much to ask and expect a domestic customer to wait 3 weeks or
more but in the end I guess it all comes down to how understanding the customer
is. Those that are less understanding may require a quicker resolution if feedback
is important to you!

I posted a standard large letter first class on Monday 1st Dec. Which arrived
today 12th Dec. 11 days first class is ridiculous, repeatedly messaging buyer
asking to be patient due to the strikes... I am also tempted to close my store
until new year.
