| I need to know the process to Remove an item from a Paid order.
What steps as a seller do I take and in what order?
Do I have to set the order to Not Paid? Or do I refund thru BrickLink?
I am just unsure which to do first.
I tried going to the Order Item Removal page, but it will not let me proceed.
The associated HELP is unhelpful/unclear/missing details regarding Paid orders.
https://www.bricklink.com/retractOrderItem.asp
OR -- if the order is PAID, is it easier for the Buyer to start the process?
Thanks In Advance for your helpful responses

| There's no specific process.
You could refund the whole (it'll cost you the fees), then the buyer makes
an item removal request you approve, invoice again, the buyers pays again.
Or refund the whole, cancel the order, and the buyer places the order corrected.
Or you could simply refund the price of those "removed" parts and simply don't
send them. You'll have to reupload them later on... In this case you'll
lose the BL fees on those parts.
That's it.

This is what I do. I only happens a couple times a year, maybe $1 in parts total.
No biggie.

The Help is indeed missing the information on how to process this type of request
with a Paid order, or that it is simply not possible.
Personally, I would just refund the buyer and eat the BL fees. Is there another
reason the item must be removed?

Try if it works with the edit order button changing the payment from paid and
order status from packed.
Refund for the item by the Refund button.
Initiate the Item in Order Removal Request.

Oh???
You could said "Not paid" to a 1000$ order if you remove 0.10$ of it?
Sincerely I've a doubt on this procedure...

It's because it's not possible to edit a paid order. Change it back to
completed after refunding the partial payment.

I hadn't done one in a long time but I did one yesterday (for a PAID order).
It worked like a charm.
1. You can start the process via the link you showed.
2. Your Buyer will approve.
2. Then you refund via BrickLink.
(Actually you will receive an email from BrickLink with the link for the refund.
Which is very neat.)

How much is the item worth?
The important thing is that the buyer knows the item is missing, and gets to
decide if they want to go ahead. If it is a $1 or $2 part and the buyer still
wants to go ahead, do a partial refund for whatever you agree and just send the
order minus the part. it is not worth the hassle to get refunded the 3c or 6c
in BL fees.
If significantly more substantial or the buyer doesn't want to go ahead,
then cancel the item or order as appropriate.
